About the role
Concept Plus is seeking a Database Administrator to provide senior technical leadership supporting federal IT systems development and operations, with a focus on database architecture, performance, and data management. This role requires knowledge and understanding of Federal IT processes and technology stack (DevSecOps CI/CD, Oracle, Java). Air Force systems are deployed in classified and unclassified environments in DISA and Cloud.
The Database Administrator provides thought leadership in modernizing and enhancing federal systems through effective data management, database optimization, and secure data practices, and serves as a primary interface with the customer. The Database Administrator supports and coordinates with capability delivery teams including development Scrums, Cloud Engineering, and DevSecOps Platform to ensure database performance, availability, integrity, and security across all system environments.
What you'll do
  • Tune the database, monitor database logs, install software and associated patches, provide after hour support for incidents.
  • Maintaining the database and configuration on each database server and/or Cloud One, or any other hosting area.
  • Coordinating firewall access to maintain mainframe/server accessibility for users and interfaces.
  • Coordinating release schedules with the PMO and interfacing partners.
  • Installing new maintenance releases of client applications.
  • Resolving system anomalies.
  • Developing database strategies, system monitoring, and improvements to database performance and capacity, and plan for future requirements.
  • Monitor production systems, secure database environment, including the application, remediation, and mitigation of database STIGs.
  • Preparing software release packages to migrate to newer versions of COTS (hardware or software).
  • Modifying the database structure based on approved software changes.
  • Facilitating backups; ensure data is accurate and complete if restored from a backup; and assist with the backup restoration.
  • Preparing databases to be used in testing to include but not limited to Component Validation and Integration (CV&I), Qualification Test and Evaluation (QT&E), performance testing, user-acceptance testing, and regression testing.

Required Qualifications
  • US Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Technology Management, or a degree in a closely related field
  • 5-7 years of experience as a DBA
  • 3+ years Database management in an AWS Cloud environment (RDS)
  • Security+ CE or CCNA Security certification required
  • Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Knowledge of XMLS, AWS related technologies and utilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Agile development teams of 20+ FTEs and be familiar with Agile methodologies.
  • 5+ years of experience with Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle RMAN
  • 2+ years of experience with Oracle Failsafe
