What is 'Day Touch Freight'?

Day Touch Freight refers to a type of freight delivery job where drivers handle or 'touch' freight during the daytime hours. Unlike 'no touch' freight, where drivers only transport sealed trailers, 'touch freight' means the driver is responsible for loading, unloading, or moving goods as part of their daily duties. These positions often require physical activity and may involve making multiple stops or deliveries. Day shifts are typical, which can offer a more consistent work-life balance compared to overnight or long-haul driving jobs.

Both roles require a valid driver's license and are common in logistics and delivery industries, but they differ mainly in work environment and scope of delivery.

What are some common challenges faced by Day Touch Freight workers, and how can they be addressed?

Day Touch Freight workers often encounter challenges such as managing time efficiently during deliveries, handling heavy or bulky items safely, and navigating traffic or unexpected route changes. To address these, it’s important to develop strong organizational skills, use proper lifting techniques, and stay updated on route planning tools or company protocols. Building good communication with dispatchers and team members also helps in resolving issues quickly and maintaining a smooth workflow.
