Safety Statement:

This is a safety sensitive position.

Job Purpose:

To attain and exceed annual sales goals as established by the company for the assigned territory to all markets served by the National Sales group.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and sales within an assigned geographic territory. Includes but is not limited to development of all Virco targeted markets.
  • Plan and implement diversified sales action plan.
  • Manage all company provided new and existing construction leads in CRM.
  • Develop expert knowledge of all Virco products. This includes learning through seminars, training sessions and self-taught applications.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understand their preferences and conduct market research to stay informed about competition.
  • Using the company’s sales activity planner, submit and update daily and weekly sales plans and activities as well as create itineraries for the following work week.
  • As directed by the Regional Sales Manager, attend conventions and conferences where the Company’s products are displayed.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on sales activities and territory performance to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least 2 years of previous sales experience, with a focus on managing a territory.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must have proficiency in the following job-critical skills: communication, judgment/decision making, safety, quality of work, initiative, teamwork, flexibility, leadership, service, motivation, planning/organizing, and job knowledge/skills development.
  • Must have the ability to drive vehicles and have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to travel overnight one to two nights a week on average, with occasional stays three to four nights as required, including weekends.
  • Must be able to speak English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A 4-year college degree
  • Experience in K-12 educational furniture sales.

Physical Requirements:

Able to travel frequently for business, which includes significant driving to customer locations. Able to lift, push, or pull up to 35 pounds of merchandise or samples occasionally. Able to sit at a desk, as needed, up to 25% of the work week. Must be able to adjust to applicable environmental conditions during travel, to include changes in temperature. Must wear applicable hearing and/or eye protection while in the production/distribution floor environment.
