Job description

SUMMARY:The Process Technician is responsible for field monitoring of equipment, sample collection and analysis, minor maintenance, and housekeeping in their assigned area of the facility. This role provides support to other Operators and Lab Staff to ensure operational standards are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:include the following. Other duties may be assigned at management's discretion.

  • Collect samples, diagnose issues, prepare work orders, and oversee necessary repairs.
  • Operate process controls and machinery; make adjustments to maintain performance within specified limits.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly; adjust or report as necessary to maintain product quality.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to uphold safety, quality, and consistency standards. Conduct annual reviews of SOPs for accuracy and update changes.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues; escalate complex problems to supervision.Ensure operating parameters are maintained within required limits.
  • Monitor equipment performance; coordinate routine repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Implement corrective actions based on lab results and inputfrom Control Board Operator.
  • Participate in start-up and shutdown procedures.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and internal teams during maintenance events
  • Assist with turnaround maintenance and special projects.
  • Issues and maintains Safe Work Permits and associated special permits for all work being completed in assigned area.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and health protocols; report any concerns or incidents promptly.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Refinery experience preferred
  • Ability to learn and apply process parameters and control system functions while maximizing plant production yields.
  • Capable of following detailed procedures utilizing complex data and responding to off-normal process conditions
  • Ability to maintain focus, respond to alarms, and changing conditions to complete tasked as assigned.
  • Comfortable using computer-based control systems and interpreting data trends
  • Complete necessary training to become HAZWOPER certified.
  • Attend High Angle and confined space rescue as scheduled.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position is primarily operational and requires significant physical activity. The role involves frequent walking, standing, and stair climbing, along with lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs. Employees will regularly perform pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Work is often conducted in outdoor environments and variable weather conditions, with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, and moisture. Adequate visual acuity for reading and monitoring equipment, as well as effective communication skills for verbal and written interactions, are essential. Employees must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) for their work areas.

WORKENVIRONMENT:Work environment is based in assigned units of a manufacturing plant, with frequent mobility through all areas of production. This position will be exposed to all outside climate conditions. The noise level varies widely within different areas of production.
