Job description

We have an opening on day shift and night shift; 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am.

Overall Summary: 

The Envelope Adjuster Trainee position is a developmental role designed to prepare the employee for advancement to an Envelope Adjuster within a structured training program. Under the guidance of experienced Adjusters and Operators, the Trainee will learn to configure and maintain envelope manufacturing equipment to customer specifications, ensuring consistent product quality, safety, and production efficiency. After completion of the training program, the Trainee will become an Envelope Adjuster.  As milestones are hit within the program, there are opportunities for wage adjustments.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Learn to independently perform machine adjustments, including mounting plates; setting side knives and cut-off knives; adjusting top and bottom scores and side folds; installing and setting window dies; setting release rollers to the collator; and reading and interpreting job jackets. 

  • Learn to configure envelope manufacturing machines in accordance with Job Tickets to meet customer specifications, ensuring accuracy, quality, and appropriate machine speeds. 

  • Collaborate with Envelope Adjusters and Operators to ensure the production team is aligned on quality, safety, and efficiency goals. 

  • Learn to identify quality or safety concerns that require machine shutdown and coordinate with Adjusters and Operators to troubleshoot and resolve issues. 

  • Order required parts and materials and coordinate with suppliers as directed. 

  • Learn to perform routine machine maintenance, setup adjustments, and basic repairs. 

  • Make routine job-related decisions within established guidelines and under supervisory direction. 

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with all safety standards and procedures. 

  • Perform additional duties and related tasks as assigned to support departmental and operational needs. 

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Basic computer proficiency.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, including understanding written and verbal instructions.

  • Basic math skills, including the ability to read measurements and perform simple calculations.

  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn complex machinery.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical training preferred. 

  • Three (3) years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, including experience as a machine operator or in a similar role with comparable responsibility.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work consecutively 12-hour shifts, rotating 3 or 4 days per week including weekend rotations.

  • Ability to work overtime as business needs require.

  • Standard climate-controlled production environment; exposure to loud noise (PPE is provided).

  • Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 35 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours.

  • Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching.

  • Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching.

  • Pre-employment post-offer comprehensive assessment required.

Salary: 

The hourly rate range for this position is $25.00-$35.00. Night shift employees earn an additional $1.50 per hour for the shift differential.
