Job description

Job Title: Access Associate

Location: Ambulatory Care Center

Department Name: ACC - Physical Therapy

Pay Range: $20.60 - $25.84 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The receptionist greets each patient and family members upon arrival at the Center. Registers the patient, issues the registration face sheet, history form and patient bill of rights. Make corrections to patient data (procedure, insurance or referring physician). Alerts the staff that patient has arrived. Assumes responsibility for all activities pertaining to the reception area. Is responsible for answering phones, taking messages and directing phone inquiries to the proper person/place. Performs clerical duties without requiring constant supervision. Exercises good judgment in dealing with patients.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Understands insurance authorization process
  • Five (5) Weeks of Training
  • Registration/Billing Experience
  • Completion of all orientation programs

Preferred:

  • Experience in rehabilitation
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree
  • Epic Experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day shift
  • M,W 9a-5p; Tu, Th 11a-7p and Fri 8a-4p
  • Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week

Essential Functions:

  • Answer phones and greets patients at the registration window promptly and courteously
  • Is proficient in access and data entry in all registration and scheduling systems
  • Registers new patients accurately and completely with regards to patient demographics and correct insurance information
  • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge of insurance companies
  • Verifies after registering new patient that all insurance information has been entered correctly and that patient has active insurance coverage, correct plan code and subscriber information
  • Is proficient in verifying rehab specific benefit, entering referrals into appropriate systems, obtain and enter authorizations into appropriate systems and notifying/scheduling patient as indicated based on authorization/referral
  • Schedules patients accurately with the correct service and the therapist based on their treating diagnosis following all scheduling guidelines with respect to task and time allotted for appointment
  • Arrives patients verifies patient information is correct and any required information is collected as indicated script if indicated, referral if needed
  • Photo ID and insurance cards are scanned and appropriate consent forms are signed for new patients
  • Explains patients rehab specific benefits to patients and issues a copy to reference
  • Promptly notifies therapists of patient arrival
  • Collecting co-pays when applicable
  • Answers patient s inquiries or concerns or directs patient to appropriate person
  • Keeps patient informed of delays
  • Works in a collaborative manner with the clinical staff to improve work flow, maintain established cleanliness/infection control requirements and enhance patient safety to provide the highest standard of patient care and promote an exemplary patient experience
