Job description

Are you dependable, hardworking, and passionate about supporting quality resident care? The DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a Dietary Aide / Food Service Worker to join our team and help ensure residents receive nutritious meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
About the Role: Under direct supervision, you will assist with food preparation, tray assembly, meal delivery, cleaning, and dish room responsibilities. This role plays a vital part in maintaining high standards of care and service for our residents.
Schedule: 6:15 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., plus every other weekend and alternating holidays
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare minor food items, nourishments, and snacks
  • Participate in tray-line setup, assembly, and meal delivery
  • Assist residents with tray preparation following established procedures
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dining areas, carts, pots, pans, and utensils
  • Operate kitchen tools and equipment safely (dish machine, blenders, ovens, etc.)
  • Sweep, mop, remove trash, and perform routine and special cleaning duties
  • Note and record resident meal intakes
  • Adhere to dress code and maintain a neat, professional appearance
  • Attend required meetings, in-services, and orientation
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and follow oral and written English instructions
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Positive and respectful communication with residents, families, and coworkers
  • Ability to perform repetitive, physically demanding, and detail-oriented work
  • No previous experience required - 1-3 weeks of training provided
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Must complete ongoing in-service education and orientation
  • Physical exam and two tuberculin skin tests required within 10 days of hire
  • Ability to safely perform all essential job functions, with or without accommodation
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels

Pay: $15.72 per hour ($20.34 per hour if opting for "Limited Benefits")
