Job description

At NorthBay Health the Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Physician provides comprehensive outpatient pulmonary and sleep medicine services, with a strong emphasis on the diagnosis and management of sleep-related disorders in an ambulatory setting. This position focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for adults with pulmonary and sleep conditions while collaborating with a multidisciplinary clinical team to optimize patient outcomes. 

Inpatient/Outpatient Responsibilities: Outpatient only

Daily Patient Census:  Average 18-20 patients per day

Equipment/Resources: Access to state-of-the-art medical equipment and comprehensive resources

Provider Support: Collaborative team of physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient pulmonary and sleep medicine care to adult patients.
  • Diagnose and manage a broad range of pulmonary conditions including asthma, COPD, chronic cough, interstitial lung disease, and other respiratory disorders.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, hypersomnia, restless leg syndrome, and circadian rhythm disorders.
  • Interpret and manage diagnostic testing including pulmonary function tests (PFTs), home sleep apnea testing (HSAT), polysomnography, and other pulmonary and sleep-related studies.
  • Manage PAP therapy, including CPAP and BiPAP treatment plans and compliance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers, specialists, respiratory therapists, sleep technologists, and clinical staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding pulmonary and sleep conditions, treatment plans, preventive care, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development activities as appropriate
  • Collaborate with and supervise APPs to enhance patient care

Compensation Structure

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1-5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pulmonary Disease.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine.
  • Active and unrestricted California medical license (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

COMPENSATION AND PERKS

  • Income: $245. hourly basis with a productivity incentive over a static threshold 

  • Sign-On Bonus up to $10K 

  • Relocation Assistance available for qualified candidates up to $10K

  • Retention Bonus: eligible after completion of 2nd year up to $30K
