Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Essay Editor / Instructor to guide high school students through the college application essay process. This position requires a strong writing and editing background, a passion for mentorship, and the ability to help students find and express their authentic voice. Candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant teaching, tutoring, or writing instruction experience.
Responsibilities
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups to brainstorm, develop, and refine personal statements and supplemental essays.
  • Provide detailed, constructive feedback to improve clarity, structure, flow, and impact.
  • Keep students on track with timelines and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate student progress records.
  • Communicate regularly with the counseling team to ensure students essays align with their overall application strategy.
  • Able to effectively note and summarize key points from meetings
Required:
  • Bachelors degree (completed)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in teaching/tutoring writing, editing, or college counseling/admissions
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Familiar with Google Meet and online meeting tools
  • Familiarity with Common App and UC PIQ formats
Preferred:
  • Experience guiding students through selective college application essays
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate students
