Job description

Job ID: 16596
Alternate Locations: United States-Virginia-Winchester; United States-Kansas-Wichita; United States-Kansas-Winfield; United States-Ohio-Akron; United States-Ohio-Mogadore; United States-Tennessee-Maryville-Tennessee
Newell Brands is a leading consumer products company with a portfolio of iconic brands like Graco®, Coleman®, Oster®, Rubbermaid®, Sharpie® and Yankee Candle® - and 24,000 talented teammates around the world. Our culture is built on values in action: Integrity, Teamwork, Passion for Winning, Ownership, and Leadership. We work together to win, grow, and make a real impact-supported by a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative environment where you can be your best, every day.
Job Summary:
The Sr. Lead, Segment Ingetration - Injection Molding is a central, capability-focused role responsible for driving integration and synergy of the injection molding manufacturing capability across Newell's plants, spanning all product segments that rely on injection molding. Unlike a category-based SPI, this role integrates a manufacturing capability horizontally: traveling across plants, the SPI harmonizes molding standards, tooling and process practices, drives cross-plant synergies (common tooling standards, resins, process parameters, mold sourcing), and feeds injection molding capability intelligence back into the MDC / NPC and ERA / DFM organizations.
This is an influence-and-integration role: the SPI does not hold change-control authority, but instead aligns, recommends and coordinates to keep the injection molding capability consistent, modern and cost-effective across sites. Reporting directly to the MDC Director. The SPI acts as the connective tissue between plants, NPC design, ERA / DFM and tooling / sourcing, capturing molding synergy opportunities and ensuring that standards, technology and learnings flow across the network.
Job Duties:
Cross-Plant Injection Molding Integration & Synergy
• Drive synergy of the injection molding capability across plants - common tooling standards, mold-design guidelines, resins, process parameters and suppliers.
• Identify, quantify and champion molding-related synergy and cost-reduction opportunities (tooling commonality, resin harmonization, mold sourcing, scrap and cycle-time improvement).
• Harmonize injection molding standards, mold specifications and process practices across sites.
• Share and scale molding best practices, lessons learned and proven solutions across the network.
Molding Standards & Process Consistency
• Ensure injection molding standards, mold specs and process requirements are consistently understood and applied across plants - without owning change control.
• Provide injection molding technical expertise and guidance to plant teams.
• Flag molding process gaps, tooling risks and deviations to the relevant owners (plant / NPI / ERA-DFM) and support resolution.
Tooling, Resins & Technology
• Support harmonization of mold / tooling standards, resin selection and molding technology across plants.
• Promote adoption of advanced molding technology, automation and process improvements.
• Partner with toolmakers and resin suppliers on standards, feasibility and cost.
Capability Intelligence & DFM Linkage
• Capture injection molding capability intelligence (process performance, scrap, cycle time, tooling health) and feed it back into NPC design and ERA / DFM.
• Ensure new product designs leverage the network's molding capabilities and standards (design for injection molding).
• Maintain a capability-level view of injection molding across the network.
Cost & VAVE Synergy Support
• Support cost analyses and VAVE by surfacing molding-related commonality and synergy (tooling, resin, process).
• Partner with Cost Engineering, sourcing and the laboratory on should-cost, benchmarking and molding cost-reduction that scales across sites.
Key Deliverables:
• Cross-plant injection molding synergy and commonality pipeline
• Harmonized molding standards, mold specifications and process practices
• Injection molding capability intelligence feedback to NPC / DFM
• Molding best-practice and lessons-learned playbooks
• Molding synergy / cost-reduction results (influenced across the network)
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Plastics / Polymer, Manufacturing or related).
• Strong experience in injection molding - process, tooling and part design - in a manufacturing environment.
• Deep understanding of molding processes, mold design, resins and molding troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to influence and drive alignment across teams and plants without direct authority.
• Advanced English (written and spoken).
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively across plants.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working across multiple plants, sites or regions.
• Expertise with mold-filling simulation (Moldflow), scientific molding / DOE and process optimization.
• Knowledge of DFM for injection molding, VAVE and tooling cost / should-cost.
• Lean Six Sigma and/or project management background.
• Spanish and/or Portuguese.
Skills & Abilities:
• Deep injection molding process, tooling and materials expertise.
• Strong influence, collaboration and stakeholder management across sites and cultures.
• Ability to see the big picture across a capability and connect the dots between plants.
• Comfortable operating without formal authority - leading through expertise and relationships.
• Self-directed and mobile; analytical, cost-aware problem solver.
Travel:
• Extensive travel across plants, with periodic global travel, is a core requirement of this role.
"The base pay range for this position is from $111,200 to $152,900. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position."
