???? DevOps & Infrastructure Developer | Multiplayer FPS ~ ???? Développeur DevOps et infrastruc

Ironbelly Studios

Montreal, QC • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 18 days ago

Job description

???? The Project

Shrapnel is a 4v4 PvP extraction shooter where teams race to collect Sigma — a powerful resource scattered across the arena — and extract 300 of it before the other team does. Semi-realistic gunplay, Sigma-powered abilities, and a constant tension between offense, defense, and resource control.

That's the game. Your job is making sure it runs.

We need a DevOps & Infrastructure Developer to own the infrastructure underneath: the Kubernetes fleet hosting matches, the Terraform-defined AWS backbone, the CI/CD pipeline that gets builds out safely, the observability stack that tells us when a region is degrading before players post about it.

???? Your Mission
  • Multi-cluster Kubernetes for game server hosting (Helm)

  • AWS infrastructure in Terraform (EKS, VPC, EC2, CloudFront)

  • GitHub Actions CI/CD

  • Secrets management (HashiCorp Vault preferred)

  • Cost optimization across the fleet

  • Full observability stack — server health, match quality, latency

✅ What You Bring
  • 3-5+ years DevOps/infrastructure/SRE

  • Production Kubernetes + Helm

  • AWS: EKS, VPC, EC2, CloudFront

  • Terraform (IaC, no ClickOps)

  • GitHub Actions or equivalent

  • Prometheus / Grafana

  • Python or Bash

Honest filters — this role is NOT for you if:

  • You need fully remote (we're hybrid Montreal, 1-2 days/week)

  • You haven't run Kubernetes in production

  • You're hoping gaming infra is "like SaaS but with cooler logos" — it isn't

  • You want a large platform team to backstop you

⭐ Bonus Points
  • HashiCorp Vault

  • GameLift, Agones, or custom game server orchestration

  • Live-service / competitive multiplayer infra background

  • A real cost-savings story

???? Why Ironbelly Studios?

The Team: Ironbelly Studios has contributed to over 300+ projects across AAA and indie — work spanning franchises like Batman and PUBG.

The Shrapnel team includes BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning developers from Neon Machine, with individual backgrounds spanning Halo, Call of Duty, Star Wars, and Bioshock.

The Impact: This isn't maintaining existing systems - you're building multiplayer architecture from the ground up for a game that will define a new genre of player-owned competitive gaming.

The Culture: Trust-based, data-driven, and autonomous. We value continuous improvement and high-quality craftsmanship in a collaborative environment.

???? Location

Hybrid - Montreal - 2–3 days/week at Basecamp in beautiful Montreal. Not remote. If you're outside Montreal and not seriously open to relocating, this role isn't going to work — please don't burn the cycles applying.

Relocation package to be discussed for ideal candidates.

  • AWS : EKS, VPC, EC2, CloudFront

  • Terraform (IaC, pas de ClickOps)

  • GitHub Actions ou équivalent

  • Prometheus / Grafana
