JOB TITLE: Mine Electrical & Instrumental Technician

DEPARTMENT: E/I Mine Maintenance

LOCATION: Robinson Mine - Ruth, NV

POSITION REPORTS TO: Electrical Supervisor

ROTATING SHIFT: Yes No ***Days Only

EXEMPT: NONEXEMPT

Robinson Nevada Mining Company operates the Robinson Copper Mine near Ruth Nevada just outside Ely, Nevada. Ely (Central) Nevada is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts and RNMC is a great place to work. Zero Harm for our employees, Community and Environment are our highest priority.

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

Maintain Electrical and Instrumental systems in a mine and process environment. Work in a team environment internally and externally within the E & I Department. Preserve personal safety and the safety of coworkers. Learn new things and teach others, so that we can improve as individuals and as a team.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain, service, install and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Assist other departments as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Participate in cross training.
  • Ability to work extended hours, non-standard shifts and respond to callouts.
  • Participate in job planning.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions.
  • Be a role model to others in safe behavior.
  • Safe work procedures.
  • Time Management in projects.
  • Diagnosis of defects on equipment.
  • Workflow.
  • Process efficiency.
  • Safety improvements.
  • Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of KGHM.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

  • Electrical and Instrumentation experience.
  • Must be familiar with 3-phase, 480-volt motor circuitry and basic trouble-shooting techniques.
  • Must be able to follow blueprints, sketches, diagrams and manuals for installation and troubleshooting circuitry.
  • Experience with medium and high voltage switchgear switching and troubleshooting required.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code and NFPA-70E is required.
  • A valid Driver's License.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

  • 2+ years mining experience in Electrical and Instrumentation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MSHA laws, particularly those pertaining to electrical and instrumentation installation and maintenance is a plus.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Same as Required Work Experience.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • N/A

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • N/A

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Heavy: Exerting 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Medium Work.

OTHER DUTIES:

This position is designated working a rotating day shift schedule. However, the Electrician/Instrumentation Technician is expected to be able to respond to call-outs on off-shifts as required. Successful applicants must provide their own hand tools.
