Job description

POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for catching and herding the turkeys for insemination while maintaining the wellbeing of the turkeys and the cleanliness of the barn.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Select Genetics presents a solid platform to serve customers on a national and international scale by providing quality poults, service, and innovation. Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults to growers and companies across the world. The AI Catcher Worker will:
  1. Efficiently catch 1000-1500 turkeys per shift.
  2. Ability to catch 500-550 turkeys per hour
  3. Efficiently herd turkeys.
  4. Wash and disinfect turkey production facilities in a safe and organized manner.
  5. Follow all of the company's rules and regulations for bio security, animal welfare and safety.
  6. Work productively in a team environment and be willing to help in any area to get the job done.
  7. Work with a variety of tools and equipment.
  8. Have the ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull and lift 50lbs or more.
  9. Successfully work with live animals. • Organize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations Perform the duties of the job while constantly moving and using hands, occasionally lifting heavy objects while being exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals and fumes.
  10. Work an extended workday, if needed
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Sanitize and disinfect turkey production facilities and equipment.
  2. Effective time management.
  3. Use various tools and follow protocols to disinfect equipment and facilities.
  4. Repair and/or direct the repair of the equipment as needed.
  5. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  6. Schedule varies depending on the farm. Some weekends are required.
  7. Occasionally work on various farms if required.
  8. Have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  9. Follow all company regulations pertaining to bio security, animal welfare and safety.
  10. Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Prior experience in artificial insemination or poultry industry preferred.
  3. A valid Driver's License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record preferred.
  4. Bi-lingual Spanish speaking skills a plus
