Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Technology Architect with strategic and influencing experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives. Researches, models, and integrates business and technology architectures to align with business strategy, goals and objectives. Develops enterprise-wide conceptual technology architectures. Creates architectural principles to support business goals. Consults with business line managers and IT professionals to develop IT frameworks that support business applications. Understands and models key business capabilities, processes, relationships, and impact of technology on business goals. Formulates conceptual architectures and communicates architectural vision, goals and design objectives to multiple audiences. Develops technology strategies and roadmaps to deliver strategic business capabilities. Evaluates usefulness and makes recommendations regarding selected technologies. Participates in developing the IT vision and strategy. Consults with IT and business management regarding use of specific technologies and associated services. Identifies risks associated with current or new technology use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadend-to-end solution design, defining architecture across core banking systems, data, and AI capabilities.

  • Translate business requirements intoclear, scalable, and integrated solution designs, avoiding siloed implementations.

  • Collaborate with product owners, engineering teams, and enterprise architects to ensurealignment with architecture standards and frameworks.

  • Design scalable Batch and Real-time data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and streaming across Data lakes and OLTPs.

  • Define and drivenon-functional requirements (NFRs), including resiliency, performance, scalability, and failure handling.

  • Developreference architectures, reusable patterns, and blueprints, and validate designs early through hands-on engagement.

  • Drive automation architecture across build, testing, deployment, infrastructure, monitoring, and operations.

  • Evaluate technologies and vendor solutions, ensuring alignment withenterprise platforms and strategic direction.

  • Maintain aforward-looking architectural view, identifying dependencies, risks, and integration complexity early in the lifecycle.

  • Collaborate with engineering, security, compliance, and product teams to ensure designs meet regulatory, risk, and performance requirements typical of a banking environment.

  • Identify technical debt and architectural risks across the portfolio and propose remediation or modernization plans.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • At least 10 years experience with developing and implementing applications.

  • At least 10 years experience with the concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies.


Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Strong expertise in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, and Distributed Systems Design within complex enterprise environments.

  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing AI-powered solutions, including LLMs, AI Agents, RAG architectures, Copilots, and Generative AI platforms.

  • Deep knowledge of API-driven architectures, event-driven systems, messaging platforms, microservices, and cloud-native design principles.

  • Experience designing batch and real-time data pipelines, data products, analytics platforms, and modern data architectures.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, lineage, privacy controls, and access management.

  • Expertise defining non-functional requirements (NFRs) including resiliency, availability, scalability, security, monitoring, and operational excellence.

  • Proven ability to create solution design documents, architecture decision records (ADRs), system integration diagrams, and data flow models.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence engineering teams, product leaders, and executive stakeholders on architecture decisions and trade-offs.

Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
