Job description

PALS Santa Barbara is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in our Adult Day Program.


In this role, you will provide person-centered support to adults with intellectual, developmental, behavioral, and/or trauma-related disabilities, helping them build independence, confidence, and everyday skills. Through community-based activities and meaningful experiences, you will encourage personal growth, social connection, and overall well-being. This position is ideal for someone who is patient, team-oriented, and passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others.


What You'll Do

  • Work directly with one or more program participants (up to three at a time)
  • Transport participants to and from the program and community activities using a personal vehicle or PALS vehicle.
  • Assist individuals with daily living skills, personal care, communication, and social interaction
  • Encourage independence by allowing participants to complete tasks on their own whenever possible
  • Facilitate community-based activities and recreational opportunities
  • Utilize person-centered approaches
  • Submit required documentation in a timely manner
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings and required training


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum one year of work experience
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus but not required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Patient, compassionate, and committed to person-centered care
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team


Requirements

  • Reliable transportation and clean driving record
  • Valid California Driver's License and current auto insurance
  • Must pass a background check, TB clearance, drug screening, and physical examination
  • Ability to lift, move, and assist individuals as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to person-centered care.
