Pickleball Instructor

Location:

Lakeshore Sport & Fitness is the premier club for Pickleball in the downtown Chicago area. Located at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness - 211 N. Stetson Avenue, steps away from the Lakeshore East community and Michigan Avenue. There are 3 courts on our NBA-size basketball court with large safe spaces around the courts for viewing areas and a regulation-size practice court for lessons.ย  There are 240 players of all ages and skill levels.

Job Description:

The Pickleball Instructor is responsible for teaching programs, such as Drills & Skills, Introduction to Pickleball, private and group lessons. The instructor also assists with programs, events, and Organized Open Play. Lakeshore Sport & Fitness hosts various tournaments and social events throughout the year that require assistance with planning, promoting and supervision. The instructor is required to work daytime, evenings, and weekend hours. The position requires 10 -15 hours per week based on the number of lessons and programming scheduled.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach private and group lessons to beginner to advanced level players.
  • Assist with Organized Open Play throughout the week. Making sure everyone is getting fair playing time.
  • Run programs throughout the year that will help players develop more skill and knowledge of the sport.
  • Help organize and officiate tournaments and mixers throughout the year.

Requirements:

  • Be able to work daytime, evenings, and weekends
  • Be willing to work up to 15 hours a week
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and reach
  • Comfortable working with all different age groups and be able to build positive relationships with the members
  • Friendly, outgoing, energetic, positive attitude
  • Have exceptional organizational skills, time management, and communication
  • Able to instruct Pickleball players in the basics of the game, strategy, shot selection and court awareness.
  • Have a strong knowledge of the rules and regulations of Pickleball

Preferred but not required:

  • Obtain one of the following certifications within 6 months of being hired: International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) and/or Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR).
