Job description

Ritual is more than just a way to skip the line - we’re building technology that connects communities through what people love most: food. From day one, our mission has been to help local restaurants thrive.

We’re a small, product and data-driven team where operations team members take full ownership. You’ll be hands-on from day one, making real decisions, improving processes and helping define how our operations systems evolve.

We're looking for an Operations Manager (18-month contract) to lead the continual improvement across multiple functions including onboarding, support, supply chain and outsourcing, while ensuring a high level of service with all partners and customers.

You’re a great fit if you

  • Get excited to solve problems in innovative ways
  • Embrace change, take action and own outcomes
  • Have a high bar for quality and provide your team with the support and tools they need to thrive in their roles

As an Operations Manager at Ritual you will

  • Build a strong understanding of our business and operations functions quickly because you will own and oversee the day-to-day operations of all central functions. You’re willing to roll up your sleeves and are not afraid of being in the details. Jump in to help when needed, with a willingness to learn the detailed ins-and-outs of our operations ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Work and lead cross-functionally. You have the ability to influence and align key stakeholders to make consistent, meaningful impact, as well as ensure key projects are always delivered.
  • Constantly zoom in and out. You’re able to see, set and deliver on a long term strategy, while seeing how the decisions we make impact team members who are closest to our customers and merchants.
  • Develop scalable programs and processes that improve our customer and merchant experience.
  • Monitor key business metrics and identify mechanisms to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Identify issues, errors, or opportunities and determine if action is needed; validate the accuracy of data/information to resolve inconsistencies; request extra information or resources when data gaps or discrepancies appear; and monitor trends in our metrics.
  • Optimize resourcing across teams to make sure all ops functions are well staffed, supported, efficient, and cost-effective.

We’re looking for an Operations Manager that

  • Is a problem solver that is able to think strategically and develop actionable solutions to achieve goals
  • Has extreme attention to detail and is highly organized. You re-prioritize constantly and context-switch without dropping things.
  • Can develop and leverage relationships between external and internal stakeholders to achieve results with emphasis on becoming a trusted resource to merchant partners.
  • Strong communication skills - can explain complex technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders. You’ll need to hold your own with engineers and understand technical constraints.
  • Familiarity with SQL, strong Google Sheets / Excel, and data analysis skills. You’re metric driven, data savvy and can articulate valuable insights. Not afraid of rolling up your sleeves to dig into the data
  • Is comfortable with ambiguity with ability to execute quickly and iterate.
  • 5+ years relevant experience. Ideally in a management role in operations, support or account management
  • Startup or marketplace experience is preferred
  • Restaurant operations experience is helpful

What we offer

  • Compensation CAD $95,000 - $115,000 per year
  • Contribute to a lifestyle-changing consumer product that operates in North America and Australia
  • Ritual credits for you to spend at the best restaurants in town
  • Flexible working hours and unlimited vacation
  • Quarterly Wellness Days - your whole team takes an extra long weekend to refresh

About Ritual & VerticalScope

Ritual was founded in 2014 to help local businesses thrive in a digital-first world - combining the ease of push-button ordering with the human connection that makes neighbourhood spots special. Our platform connects communities over food, empowering small businesses through technology while creating a seamless experience for customers.

In April 2025, Ritual was acquired by VerticalScope, a publicly traded technology company that has built and operates a cloud-based digital community platform for some of the world's largest online enthusiast communities. VerticalScope has built a portfolio of over 1,300 communities and 2 billion content posts and serving over 100 million monthly active users worldwide.

Our mission remains the same: to digitize local commerce and enable people and businesses to thrive every day.

Ritual operates as a small, focused team within VerticalScope, continuing to build independently while benefiting from shared resources and support. We foster a culture that values authenticity, open-mindedness, and impact. We welcome diverse perspectives and empower everyone to bring their full selves to work. Every team member has a voice, a seat at the table, and the opportunity to shape what we build next.
