Job description

Major Food Distributor located in the Hunts Point Cooperative Market in the Bronx is seeking a Full-Time Day Shift Manager to oversee warehouse operations.

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and manage inbound warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory movement, put away, replenishment, and overall shift execution, while consistently maintaining productivity, accuracy, safety, and service standards.

Must be flexible to work weekend shifts, including Saturdays or Sundays, approximately 6:00 AM to close (3:00 PM).

Salary: $80,000-$86,000

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Foster a culture centered on safety, accountability, execution, and operational excellence by ensuring all day-shift processes, standards, and best practices are consistently implemented and maintained.
  • Oversee day-shift inbound warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory movement, put away, replenishment, and slotting activities while ensuring accuracy, productivity, and compliance with company procedures.
  • Manage OS&D (Overage, Shortage & Damage) processes, inventory verification, and damage reduction initiatives to maintain strong inventory accuracy and customer service standards.
  • Supervise warehouse staff, including receivers, lumpers, and Hilo operators, while driving accountability, coaching, and performance improvement.
  • Monitor KPIs, labor efficiency, staffing levels, and workflow performance to identify operational improvements and minimize downtime and overtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, housekeeping, loss prevention, and equipment procedures while maintaining effective communication across shifts and departments.
  • Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and operational reporting tools to support daily execution and continuous operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • An Associate or Bachelor degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of warehouse leadership or supervisory experience in a distribution environment, within food distribution, cold storage, or perishable goods operations is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of receiving, inventory control, replenishment, put away, and warehouse distribution processes.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and productivity tracking/reporting tools preferred.

  • Ability to work in refrigerated (35 degrees and below) and freezer environments for extended periods.
