Day Labourer information

What is a day labourer?

Day labourers are individuals who are hired to perform short-term, often physically demanding jobs, typically on a daily or as-needed basis. They work in various industries such as construction, landscaping, moving, and agriculture, usually without long-term contracts or employment benefits. Day labourers are often paid at the end of each day for their work and may find jobs through agencies, job sites, or informal hiring locations. This type of work can provide flexibility but may also lack job security and benefits like health insurance. Many day labourers rely on these jobs to support themselves or their families.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a day labourer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Day Labourer, you need good physical stamina, reliability, and basic knowledge of manual labor tasks, typically with no formal education required. Familiarity with hand tools, power equipment, and safety gear is often necessary on various work sites. Punctuality, a strong work ethic, and the ability to follow instructions and work well in teams are valuable soft skills. These competencies ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely, supporting overall productivity and workplace safety.

What are some common challenges faced by day labourers on the job site?

Day Labourers often encounter physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy materials, working in varying weather conditions, and maintaining safety standards. Adapting quickly to different job requirements and collaborating with various supervisors and team members can also present challenges, especially when assignments change frequently. To succeed, it's important to stay flexible, communicate clearly, and follow safety protocols to minimize risks and complete tasks efficiently.

Job description

First Onsite Property Restoration is seeking a versatile and reliable individual to join our team as a Labourer, bridging the gap between our construction and emergency response teams. If you're ready to roll up your sleeves, operate heavy equipment, assist in demolition projects, and learn various tasks to support our operations, we want to hear from you.

Our Labourer earns a competitive salary based on experience plus incentive. We offer an exceptional extended health plan including medical, dental, and vision. Our other benefits include an employee assistance program, educational assistance, professional development, internal growth opportunities, the opportunity for national career movement, and a healthy work/life balance. If this sounds like the opportunity for you, apply today!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GENERAL LABOURER

As a Labourer, you're right in the action, helping turn damaged spaces into fresh starts. You'll load up the truck, gear up, and head to sites where every job brings something different. One day, you might be clearing debris or setting up equipment; the next, helping with demolition or cleanup after a major restoration. You'll learn from experienced teammates, master the tools of the trade, and take pride in leaving each site safer and better than when you arrived. Your hard work and drive keep projects on track and customers one step closer to getting their spaces back.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional driving and/or labourer experience is desirable
  • Availability to work on-call for after-hours emergency work
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (CRC)
  • Valid unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving abstract
  • Ability to complete work activities which may include physical labour, material handling and lifting heavy items, climbing ladders, wearing a respirator, and working in tight spaces (attics, basements, and crawlspaces)

If you thrive in a team environment and want to make a meaningful difference, we'd love to hear from you.
