POSITION OVERVIEW


EMD LLC is seeking a qualified Security Technician to join our growing team in support of U.S. Government operations. This position is based in Alexandria, Virginia, and requires the selected candidate to report to our Alexandria office. While the position is CONUS-based, it includes approximately 35% to 50% international travel in support of overseas Government facilities.


The ideal candidate will have experience with system evaluations, design development, installation, and integration of technical security systems, network systems and applications.


Medical and Security Clearance Requirements

This position is contingent upon the successful completion of government-required medical screening, examinations, and testing. Due to the nature of the assignment, the U.S. Government requires comprehensive medical evaluations to determine an individual's fitness for overseas deployment.

The position is also contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.

A contingent offer of employment will be extended pending successful completion of all required medical evaluations. Employment in this position is contingent upon the candidate's ability to obtain and maintain both a U.S. Department of State Class 1 Medical Clearance and a Top-Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Reading, interpreting, and drawing electrical, electronic, and electromechanical schematics.
  • Reading and interpreting building plans (blueprints).
  • AC power distribution systems, motor-generators.
  • Motors, motor controls, disconnects, relays.
  • Low voltage DC electronic systems / electromechanical systems.
  • Use, repair, and/or calibration of electronic test equipment – meters, oscilloscopes.
  • Bench repair of electronic, electrical, and electromechanical equipment to the component level.
  • Mechanical and electromechanical locking systems – electronic strikes, locks.
  • Pedestrian and vehicular access control systems – door controls, vehicle barriers/arrest.
  • Closed-circuit television systems (CCTV) systems – monitors, cameras, switchers.
  • Intrusion Detection Systems – alarms, detectors, sensors.
  • Public Address Systems – emergency notification systems, intercoms.
  • Position requires a minimum SECRET security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
  • Biometric experience a plus.



Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


Education


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience - (4 years) of experience in technical systems installation, with a focus on security systems installation preferred.

Travel

  • Office based role requires 25% to 35% travel to overseas government facilities.
  • While OCONUS (Outside Continental US) the standard for this position is ten hours per day. Non workdays are designated by the location and work week. An Electrician at a post designated at a 60-hour work week location will have one assigned day off per week. Overseas locations can be in high-risk environments, and domestic travel may be required for training and program coordination.

Citizenship/Passport/Security Clearance


The employee must be a US citizen with an active SECRET clearance and be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET.


PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/ TRAVEL


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift objects 50-80 pounds such as drills, conduit benders, pipe threaders, cable pullers, and other equipment related to the electrical trade.
  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Manual dexterity required for frequent reaching, climbing, and lifting of moderate objects, operation of power and manual tools/equipment, and operating office equipment.
  • Must meet most stringent country medical clearance requirements. Position requires adherence to approved vaccination protocols as determined by location.

Work Environment:

  • Typical assignments are performed in both internal and external environments with a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work under extreme hot or cold weather conditions with exposure to dust or dirt is routine and may require the use of protective personal equipment (PPE).

Travel:

  • This position requires up to 75% international travel.
  • This position will follow a 90-30 schedule (90 days onsite with a 30-day R&R to follow each 90 consecutive days).
  • The standard for this position is ten hours/day.
  • Non workdays are designated by the location and work week.
  • An Integrator at a post designated at a 60-hour work week location will have one assigned day off per week.
  • Overseas locations will be in high-risk environments.
  • Domestic travel may be required for training and program coordination.
