Progress Industries is seeking a Day Habilitation Manager in Newton, Iowa to provide leadership and oversight for our Day Habilitation program. This position is responsible for supervising staff, coordinating quality services for persons served, maintaining required documentation, and supporting meaningful community-based programming.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who is organized, dependable, comfortable making decisions, and committed to providing high-quality services to individuals with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Subscribe to P.I.'s mission purpose and philosophies.
  • Supervise, schedule, coach, and provide ongoing direction to Day Habilitation DSPs and the Assistant Manager.
  • Assist with hiring, orientation, training, and development of staff.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Day Habilitation program.
  • Ensure services and documentation meet organizational, state, and federal requirements.
  • Review service documentation, GERs, and corrective action requirements.
  • Attend and participate in Individual Support Plan (ISP) meetings.
  • Coordinate programming between Day Habilitation, residential services, and other program areas.
  • Develop and promote meaningful community-based activities and opportunities for persons served.
  • Routinely visit community-based service locations to ensure services are safe, sanitary, and high quality.
  • Promote positive behavioral supports and person-centered service delivery.
  • Manage activity funds, program supplies, transportation scheduling, and other operational needs.
  • Assist with program budgeting and administrative responsibilities.
  • Maintain professional communication with persons served, families, employees, community partners, and the public.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for Polk and Jasper HCBS programs.

Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education/experience requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a social or behavioral science field and at least one year of related experience in the delivery, planning, coordination, or administration of human services; OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least five years of relevant human services experience.

Additional Requirements
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or staff-training experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead employees and address performance or operational concerns effectively.
  • Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Comfortable using computers and electronic documentation systems.
  • Must maintain a valid Iowa driver's license, acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, and required automobile insurance.
  • Must be available to respond to emergencies and participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Must complete all required organizational and regulatory training
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and good immediate decision-making.
  • Must have a community-based philosophy and develop that belief in employees and persons served enrolled in the program
  • Demonstrate "leadership ability" as it relates to supervision and training staff. Possess personnel management skills.
  • Ability to be creative and aggressive in developing and implementing community integrated therapeutic and instructional curriculum and opportunities.
  • Maintain a valid Iowa Drivers License with a good driving record, and a private automobile used to carry out job duties. Hold adequate liability insurance (required: $100,000/$300,000/$50,000).
