Summary

The Combustion/Boiler Reliability System Owner is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant's combustion and boiler systems. This position assists with planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling activities related to assigned systems, with a focus on improving equipment reliability, reducing Equivalent Forced Outage Rate (EFOR), optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental requirements. The role serves as a key resource for Operations, Maintenance, Instrumentation & Controls (I&C), Engineering, and Outage Management teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor the day-to-day performance and condition of combustion and boiler process equipment and communicate system status to the Process Owner.
• Participate in the work management process by attending planning and scheduling meetings and verifying that work orders, preventive maintenance (PM) activities, and corrective maintenance tasks are properly prioritized and scheduled.
• Communicate equipment performance trends, reliability concerns, and operational issues to the Process Owner and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to Maintenance and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) personnel.
• Oversee assigned combustion and boiler systems and develop plans to improve long-term equipment reliability, availability, and performance.
• Support initiatives focused on reducing EFOR and minimizing equipment-related outages.
• Assist the Process Owner with forced and planned outage planning, execution, and post-outage evaluations.
• Support the development and implementation of maintenance, predictive maintenance, reliability-centered maintenance, operational, and analytical plans for combustion and boiler equipment.
• Collect, analyze, and document information required for equipment health reports, maintenance strategies, inspections, and reliability assessments.
• Coordinate with outage planning teams to identify, prioritize, and prepare system work scopes for upcoming outages.
• Administer and ensure compliance with plant clearance permit procedures and safety policies.
• Review and approve contractor and plant employee timesheets as required.
• Assist in the preparation and completion of outage reports, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
• Work closely with Operations and Engineering personnel to identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and reliability enhancements.
• Ensure assigned systems operate in compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  

Qualifications

Education:

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Power Plant Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  

Experience

• A minimum of four (4) years' experience
• Experience with boiler systems, combustion systems, steam generation equipment, emissions control systems, or related plant processes preferred.
• Relevant education, technical training, or additional work experience may be substituted for part of the stated experience and/or education requirements.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk; sit; work with hands and fingers; push, pull, reach, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; communicate with others to exchange information; and hear.  The employee must have close visual acuity to analyze data, perform inspections, and view computer monitors; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

This position could require working in extreme heat and cold both in inside and outside environments; environments containing fumes, odors, dust, gases, and high amounts of noise and vibration. Additionally, this position requires the ability to work in close quarters, narrow passageways, at heights, on grating, platforms and catwalks. Work outside normal business hours may be required.
