Job description

The Rockford Rivets are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Stat/Pitch Clock Operator for the 2026 season. This unpaid summer internship program runs from mid-May to late August, requiring interns to be available for all home games (36) and any additional events assigned throughout the season. The Stat/Pitch clock operator reports directly to the Broadcast Director.
Responsibilities:
  • Start, stop, and reset the pitch clock according to the rules of the game.
  • Monitor the time between pitches, innings, or other relevant events.
  • Signal officials if a timing violation occurs.
  • Operate timing equipment for other game events (e.g., inning breaks, warm-ups).
  • Ensure compliance with league timing requirements for gameplay and broadcast schedules.
  • Input real-time game statistics into an electronic system.
  • Ensure accuracy of data, such as player performance, scoring, and team metrics.
  • Communicate with scorekeepers or statisticians to verify game details.
  • Test pitch clock and other timing devices before the game to ensure functionality.
  • Troubleshoot any technical issues during the game to avoid delays.
  • Maintain and secure timing equipment before and after use.
  • Work closely with umpires, referees, or other game officials to ensure smooth gameplay.
  • Notify officials of clock-related issues or rule violations.
  • Stay updated on the rules and regulations governing the use of pitch clocks and game timing.
  • Provide a detailed report of timing incidents or irregularities if required.
