Job Location: Remond, WA (Onsite for 5 days a week)

Job Type: Full-time

Job Description/ Job Summary:

We are seeking a Cellular Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support OEM side 5G device validation across 5G NR (NSA & SA) device development. This role requires deep hands-on expertise in cellular technologies, strong understanding of 5G protocol behavior, and the ability to independently drive device quality, issue analysis, and carrier readiness from an OEM perspective.

Core Responsibilities

  • 5G Cellular Expertise
  • Act as cellular SME for 5G device behavior across NSA and SA architectures.
  • Validate 5G NR protocol stack behavior across:
  • PHY, MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRC, NAS layers
  • Provide expert analysis for 5G feature behavior, including:
  • EN DC / NR DC
  • LTE–NR and NR–NR mobility
  • Carrier Aggregation
  • Beam management and reselection
  • EPS fallback and VoNR readiness
  • Review device behavior against 3GPP and carrier specific requirements.
  • Execute hands on functional, regression, and interoperability testing on OEM devices.
  • Validate device performance on 5G, LTE, and IMS dependent features (VoLTE, VoNR readiness, data sessions).
  • Support engineering builds, pre-production builds, and release candidates from a cellular perspective.
  • Analyze device capability matrices and ensure test coverage completeness.
  • Perform and analyze 5G performance testing, including:
  • Throughput (DL/UL)
  • Latency
  • Stability during prolonged sessions
  • Compare performance against reference devices and KPIs.
  • Perform deep log and trace analysis (modem, protocol, network).
  • Isolate issues across device software, modem firmware, and RF interactions.
  • Work directly with chipset vendors to debug issues and validate fixes.
  • Re test fixes and ensure no regression across releases.
  • Execute and review 5G focused regression suites.
  • Support test automation efforts by validating scenarios, results, and coverage.
  • Provide SME input to improve test strategies and cellular coverage.

Required Skills & Expertise

  • Strong hands-on experience with 5G NR device testing (NSA & SA).
  • Solid understanding of LTE, IMS, VoLTE, EPS fallback, and 5G call/data flows.
  • Ability to interpret protocol logs, call flows, and KPIs.
  • Experience working with Windows based devices from a cellular perspective.
  • Experience with lab and field test environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using logs, traces, and performance metrics.
  • Experience of working with Qualcomm and MediaTek chipsets.
