Job Summary:

The CNC Operator-Hybrid Davenport is an advanced-level machinist responsible for independently setting up, operating, and troubleshooting complex CNC machines to produce precision components. This role requires expert understanding of machining processes, advanced blueprint interpretation, and strong problem-solving abilities. The position includes operation and setup of Hybrid Davenport multi-spindle machines, a highly specialized manufacturing technology that combines traditional Davenport mechanical systems with modern CNC controls and requires an advanced level of technical expertise. A CNC Operator III may lead small teams, assist with programming tasks, and ensure production meets strict quality and efficiency standards.

Reporting To:

Operations Manager

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform full setup and operation of CNC mills, lathes, multi-axis, or Swiss-type machines, including tooling, fixturing, offsets, and program adjustments.

    Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications.

    Inspect parts using advanced measurement tools (micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, CMM exposure a plus).

    Make program edits at the machine to improve quality, accuracy, or cycle time.

    Troubleshoot machining issues such as tool wear, dimensional deviations, vibration, and surface finish defects.

    Collaborate with programmers or engineers on process improvements and manufacturability solutions.

    Fabricate or modify basic fixtures and tooling as needed.

    Train and mentor CNC Operator I and II personnel.

    Maintain accurate production and quality records.

    Perform preventive maintenance and ensure machines are kept in optimal working condition.

Required

  • High school diploma or GED required. State Apprentice Program Certification in CNC a plus
  • 4+ years as setup and operator experience in CNC Lathe machining, tsugamis preferred.
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances.
