Job Summary:
SWJ Technology specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. They are currently seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist for a client in the automotive industry, responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and support of IT infrastructure solutions, with a focus on data center operations and infrastructure management.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for IT infrastructure systems, including cloud platforms, storage solutions, cybersecurity technologies, and datacenter operations
• Deploy, configure, and maintain IT infrastructure components, including servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and security tools
• Collaborate with external providers for the deployment, operation, and support of IT infrastructure services
• Ensure high availability of systems through redundancy, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
• Optimize infrastructure performance through monitoring, capacity planning, and proactive issue resolution
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements by implementing appropriate controls and policies
• Manage ITIL processes, including change, incident, problem, and configuration management, to maintain service stability and operational efficiency
• Document infrastructure designs, configurations, standards, and best practices to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
• Support infrastructure lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, and decommissioning activities
• Collaborate with global IT teams to standardize processes, align on best practices, and support cross-functional initiatives
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and operational teams
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies, automation opportunities, and innovative solutions to improve infrastructure capabilities and operational efficiency
• Communicate infrastructure strategies, risks, and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Lead complex infrastructure and operational projects, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeline
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
• BS/BA in Information Technology OR AA/AS degree with 2 years of professional experience OR 4 years of equivalent IT experience
• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, specializing in cloud services, storage, or enterprise IT systems
• 5+ years of experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, and security
• 5+ years in Datacenter Operations monitoring, documentation, provider steering, regulatory compliance/audit (ISO, TUV, TISAX, FDIC)
• 3+ years of experience in IT project management
• 3+ years of experience demonstrating strong communication skills in IT environments
• 3+ years of junior leadership experience managing IT projects
• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, specializing in cloud services, storage, datacenter operations, or enterprise IT systems
• 5+ years of experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization, and security technologies
• 5+ years of experience in Datacenter Operations, including monitoring, documentation, provider management, and regulatory compliance/audit requirements (e.g., ISO, TÜV, TISAX, FDIC)
• Advanced to expert knowledge of datacenter infrastructure, including fiber and copper cabling, pathways, racks, and IT power implementations
• Advanced troubleshooting skills in datacenter environments, including rack, cabling, and power-related issues, with the ability to operate independently across multiple sites
• Working knowledge of critical facilities systems, including HVAC, UPS, generators, fire suppression, and physical security systems
• Intermediate experience with server, storage, and network infrastructure technologies
• Intermediate to advanced experience with CMDB platforms and ITIL-based operational processes
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and validate service provider performance against Statements of Work (SOW), operational standards, and service requirements
• 3+ years of experience in IT project management
• 3+ years of experience demonstrating strong communication and stakeholder management skills in IT environments
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams, projects, or operational initiatives
Preferred:
• ITIL certification
• IT Infrastructure, IT Architecture, Cloud, Datacenter, or other relevant industry certifications
• Experience with ServiceNow and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms
• Current industry certifications in datacenter operations, structured cabling, or related infrastructure disciplines
• Relevant certifications such as BICSI ITS Installer, BICSI Technician, Corning Certified Fiber Optic Installer, CommScope/SYSTIMAX Certified Installer, CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional), or CDCS (Certified Data Centre Specialist)
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, and/or Security+
• Experience with Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) systems and datacenter cooling optimization practices
• Experience supporting large-scale, multi-site datacenter environments
• Knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure installation, testing, and troubleshooting best practices
• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring, asset management, and capacity planning tools
