Job description

Position Overview:

The role of the Network Reliability Specialist is to ensure the stability and integrity of all aspects that comprise the Squarepoint global trading network, which includes the regional data centers, regional offices, and various cloud service providers.ย  These aspects include and are not limited to the delivery and support of various projects involving data, voice, video, network security, storage area networks, wireless networks, network monitoring, and capacity management.

The Network Reliability Specialist will oversee and participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, optimization, and documentation of all network hardware, software, and communication links.ย  This includes managing multiple projects and configuring/optimizing network services both internally and those integrated with Internet based services.ย  Our network engineers collaborate and are closely aligned with our Core Networking team, trading systems developers, enabling the technology team to deliver an optimal trading platform.ย 

  • High Level Designs and implementing highly available enterprise networks that include DC's, WANs, and Offices.
  • Primary responsibility would be Project Delivery related to DC's, WAN's or offices
  • Upgrades/Expansions in datacenter and campus environments, Migrations related to hardware, WAN links.
  • Provision delivery of multicast inter and intra region between colo to colo, colo to DC, or DC to colo.
  • Project Delivery/Management collaborating with internal and external vendors.
  • Implement and support changes to the environment in all Squarepoint locations: offices, datacenters and co-location sites. Travel might be required.
  • Provide L1 follow the sun on-call escalation support to remediate performance and availability issues.ย  ย 
  • Identify areas for generating efficiencies adopting automation and innovative solutions for improvements.ย 

Preferred Qualifications:ย 

  • Degree in Network engineering, Computer Science, or related Information Technology discipline
  • CCNP certification or higher (CCIE preferred)
  • Minimum 7-12 years of experience in network implementation and project delivery required, with a strong track record of successful project execution.
  • Extensive knowledge of routing and switching protocols:
  • Unicast: OSPF, BGP, NAT, IPSEC, GRE and EVPN
  • Multicast: PIM, RP, MSDP, IGMP
  • Switching: QoS, HSRP/VRRP, VPC/MLAG, VXLAN
  • Experience with Cisco's Unified Communication and Collaboration products and below technologies would be a plus:
  • Voice: SIP, SCCP, H.323
  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager
  • Cisco Unity ConnectionCisco Expressway
  • Cisco Jabber/WebEx Teams
  • Video endpoints experience a plus
  • Experience with voice recording platform a plus
  • Strong scripting and automation experience - Python preferred
  • Monitoring: LANZ, Sflow, Kibana, Prometheus
  • Experience with Arista / Cisco
  • Datacenter/office network infrastructure buildout experience
  • Experience with network diagnostic and performance tools - tshark, tcpdump, wireshark, etc.
  • Experience in the following areas a plus:
  • Implementing and supporting cybersecurity solutions: Palo Alto, Fortinet, IDS, etc.
  • Cloud-based solutions: AWS, GCP, Azureย 

The minimum base salary for this role is $120,000 if located in New York. ย This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. ย This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation.ย  This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions.ย  Successful candidates' compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors.
