Job description

About H3X Technologies

H3X is building America's advanced electric motor company, powering next-generation platforms in aerospace, defense, and marine. Our integrated motor drives deliver 12+ kW/kg, roughly 3x the power density of competing solutions. We're now scaling to megawatt-class systems, with customers working on everything from supersonic aircraft to turbine power generation for AI datacenters.

Our team brings together engineers and operators from aerospace, defense, and motorsports, with deep expertise in electric machines, power electronics, material science, and advanced manufacturing. We're a small, fast-moving team doing hard engineering that matters, and we're looking for people who want to do the best work of their careers alongside us.

About the Role

We are looking for a Chief of Staff to work directly with our CEO and act as a force multiplier across the business. This is a high-ownership, high-variety role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and is equally comfortable building a financial model, untangling a broken internal process, drafting an investor update, or jumping on a customer call.

You will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, translating the CEO's priorities into concrete action, and bringing structure, data, and rigor to a company that's still writing its own playbook. This role is not a scheduling-and-logistics job; it's a build-and-operate job for someone who wants broad exposure to every part of a fast-growing startup.

What you will do:

Business Operations & Financial Planning

  • Partner with the CEO on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting; build and maintain financial models to support decision-making

  • Own Notion as the company's system of record. Drive documentation hygiene, structure, and consistent adoption across every team

  • Track key company and departmental metrics; build dashboards and reporting that give leadership a clear, real-time view of the business

  • Build internal automation and stand up AI-driven workflows to support sales, financials, manufacturing, and operations.

  • Identify operational bottlenecks and drive resolution, often by rolling up your sleeves and doing the work yourself before handing it off

Customer & Business Development Support

  • Support backend sales/BD operations including quoting, pipeline management, customer communications, and order acknowledgements

  • Support the CEO and BD team on proposal development and deal support

  • Prepare materials for customer and partner meetings, including research and follow-up

Investor Relations & Fundraising

  • Maintain and support relationships with existing investors, including regular updates, data requests, and board materials

  • Support the fundraising process end-to-end: data room management, financial/operational diligence, investor targeting research, and pitch materials

  • Help prepare board decks, investor updates, and other recurring communications

General CEO Support

  • Act as a trusted thought partner to the CEO on strategic priorities and special projects

  • Represent the CEO's priorities across teams, ensuring alignment and follow-through on key initiatives

  • Take on ad hoc, cross-functional projects wherever the business needs help, this role's scope will shift with company priorities

What we are Looking For:

  • 3–7+ years of experience in a high-growth startup, investment banking/consulting, venture capital, or similar high-rigor environment

  • Deeply AI-fluent. You have personally built agents or AI workflows that replaced real manual work, not just experimented with chatbots

  • Some engineering, technical, or systems background is a strong plus

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills; comfortable in spreadsheets, data analysis, and building reporting/dashboards from scratch

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and switch context quickly without dropping quality

  • Excellent written and verbal communication. You will be drafting investor updates, customer emails, and internal comms, often in the CEO's voice

  • A builder's mindset: comfortable creating processes and systems where none exist, and iterating quickly

  • High degree of trust, discretion, and judgment. You will have visibility into sensitive financial, strategic, and investor information

  • Startup experience strongly preferred; comfort with ambiguity, fast pace, and shifting priorities is essential

  • Bias toward action and ownership. If you see something broken or missing, you fix it

Why H3X

Joining H3X means working on hard, meaningful problems with a skunkworks-style team that's laser-focused on building exceptional products. We're deeply vertically integrated and have a very tight design-build-test loop, which lets us move from concept to hardware at unmatched speed. We've gone from idea to shipping product in less than two months.

We're a small, highly skilled team where everyone carries real responsibility and shares an extreme ownership mentality. We stay focused on the critical path, keep bureaucracy to a minimum, and structure everything around delivering results. You'll learn and grow faster here than you would anywhere else.

You'll work alongside world-class engineers and builders who are pioneering electric motor technology at scale on some of the coolest programs in the industry, from supersonic aircraft to power generation for AI datacenters. If you want your contributions to be visible and your work to directly shape American reindustrialization, you'll feel at home here.

Compensation

  • Annual Salary Target: $130,000 - $170,000 based on experience

Benefits

Our team provides robust benefits including medical, vision, dental, disability, & life insurance offerings, employee equity incentive program, & 401k program. Additional benefits include our gym membership stipend and outdoor recreation reimbursement program. We have an execution based culture, with flexible hours, flexible time off, 12 company holidays (including our company ski trip), monthly company events, and weekly catered team lunch on Fridays.

Our Values

Be Relentless Never give up, persevere until the job is done. Run toward problems, not away from them. Grit is key.

Gain insight through humility Approach every challenge with a learner’s mindset. Stay open to feedback, listen to others, and deepen your understanding through self-awareness. Put your ego aside and seek the truth in every discussion, especially when leading others.

Distill & Simplify Eliminate unjustified complexity and simplify wherever possible, whether in requirements, design, or execution. Use first principles thinking to distill every problem to its essence. Less is more.

Find your flow Engage fully and work with intention. Find the rhythm and deep focus that lets you do your best work. Discover your Ikigai - where your strengths, passions, and purpose meet and drive your personal fulfillment and team success. That is when the magic happens.

SEND (Solve, Evolve, Nail It, Deliver) Devise the best solution with the information at hand, test it, learn from it, and iterate quickly until you nail it. Nothing works perfectly the first time, but you should never hit the same issue twice. Stay laser-focused on solving customer problems and delivering solutions that create real value.

Equal Opportunity Employer

H3X is an equal opportunity-affirmative action employer and considers all qualified applicants for employment based on business needs, job requirements and individual qualifications, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, past or present military service or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate.
