Cloud Database Engineer

Location: Westlake, TX

Duration: 12+ months

PostgreSQL, Oracle RDS (12c/19c), AWS Cloud Database Services (Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB), AWS DMS, Oracle GoldenGate, Database Replication & Migration, Performance Tuning, Terraform/Python Automation, DR/High Availability, and Strong Communication Skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based database solutions across AWS platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Provide operational support for Oracle RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and incident management.
  • Implement and manage database replication and migration solutions using AWS DMS and Oracle GoldenGate, enabling reliable data movement, synchronization, and modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with data platform teams to support Snowflake environments (good to have) and enable efficient analytics workloads.
  • Work closely with application teams, data engineers, and platform services to onboard and optimize database usage patterns.
  • Implement automation for database provisioning, monitoring, patching, and failover using infrastructure-as-code and scripting tools.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, governance, and data protection standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in database reliability, resiliency, and cost optimization across environments.
  • Support disaster recovery strategies, cross-region replication, and high-availability architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A 6-8+ plus years performing Oracle 12c and 19c administration
  • 3-5 years actively involved in enterprise level cloud database initiatives.
  • Strong experience with AWS database services (RDS Oracle, Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
  • Hands-on experience with data replication and migration technologies such as AWS DMS and Oracle GoldenGate.
  • Experience with cloud database architecture, operations, and performance tuning in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake data platform is a plus (not mandatory).
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools (Terraform, Python, or similar) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of database internals, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience with multi-region architectures, DR strategies, and production support.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
