This position is an onsite position and available to be filled at any Huntington Corporate office location (see location options on posting).

Summary:
The Oracle Database Engineer troubleshoots problems that involve trade-offs between budget, schedule and quality/performance of the service. They articulate the business value and impact of technical and non-technical information and understand when to escalate issues. They provide effective production support including accurate problem identification, ticket documentation and customer/vendor dialogue.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver automation and scripting of Oracle database activities and admin projects.
  • Ensure the optimal performance and high availability of database systems and services while meeting or exceeding our Service Level Objectives.
  • Work with multiple technology teams and facilitate collaboration across Development, Operational and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership for large and/or complex business efforts.
  • Serve as a technical expert on efficiency practices around databases and especially the Oracle Database platform that will drive optimal technology utilization.
  • Serve as a technical expert in HA, DR, Security, Database Installations and Database troubleshooting.
  • Support implementation of new releases of DBMS software; plan and implement new features where appropriate.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and rapidly develop proficiency in new skills.
  • Think and act proactively and creatively in identifying opportunities in team's daily work along with executing and completing tasks that are highly visible.
  • Adopt and embrace automation practices across the various technical platforms and domains.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline, or 5+ additional years of equivalent experience.
  • 3-5+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced working knowledge and understanding of Oracle 19c to current
  • Advanced working knowledge of Oracle Server security and general DB security practices including RBAC.
  • Advanced skills in Data Guard technologies.
  • Professional experience with RAC and Exadata is preferred.
  • Unix Scripting (KSH/BASH).
  • Advanced Unix Server experience.
  • Advanced SQL skills including use and optimization techniques.
  • Proven ability to lead directly and in-directly with direct team and across teams.
  • High level knowledge of key business drivers measures, processes and challenges.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to promote ideas and advocate for change.
  • Good overall exposure to various technology stacks like Storage, Network, OS and databases.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and Desired State Configuration.
  • Past experience working as a programmer/coder is highly beneficial.

Compensation Range:

$57,000 - $113,000 Annual Salary

The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education.  Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.  In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
