Sr Oracle Database Engineer


On behalf of our client, Procom Services is searching for a Sr Oracle Database Engineer for a contract opportunity in Dallas, TX.


Sr Oracle Database Engineer Job Details


Data Center Services Group is seeking candidates for an Oracle/SQL DBA opening in Dallas TX. Position will be integral to the Database infrastructure strategy, security, and currency planning. Position will also provide world class system infrastructure design solutions for prospective clients on an as-needed basis. Must be a problem solver able to identify and solve complex IT issues without supervision.


Performs day to day monitoring and maintenance of diverse installed base of Oracle and SQL servers including systems infrastructure stability, availability, patching, and security compliance.


Creates and maintains library of documentation for all equipment, processes, and procedures including detailed build procedure documents.


Maintains an accurate inventory of existing DB installations to provide server resource information for projects and for client billing.


Assists in version recommendations and procurement of database software.


Maintains relationship and frequently interfaces with Oracle/Microsoft and 3rd party vendors.


Communicates and coordinates scheduled maintenance, backups, and downtime to users.


Insures all systems are backed up and mirrored to disaster recovery sites (by interfacing with the separate Backup and Recovery team).


Participates in regular disaster recovery exercises.


Interfaces with the local and remote network administrators, systems administrators to build and maintain basic operations.


Performs end user troubleshooting to isolate, diagnose, and resolve common problems with hosted solutions.


Participate in acquisition or divestiture as needed.


Subject to be on call 24 hours, seven days a week on a rotating schedule with other DBAs.


Required Skills / Certifications:


8+ years experience in an enterprise level distributed environment (SAN, Virtual, UNIX, Windows, Data Center)


5+ years Oracle experience in an enterprise environment


3+ years SQL experience in an enterprise environment


Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with current clients, prospective clients, and with internal personnel.


Solid understanding of TCP/IP, LDAP, DNS SMTP and other networking areas.


Proficiency in enterprise storage technologies such as NAS and Storage Area Networking, and Backup & Recovery.


Sr Oracle Database Engineer Mandatory Skills


Microsoft Certifications (such as MCSE, MCSA, MCP, MCTS)


Advanced technical knowledge and experience in UNIX and Windows server environments


Advanced knowledge of security and compliance standards such as SOx and PCI DSS.


Working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and PolyServe.


Skills in DB2, Informix, JCL, MySQL and Ingres.
