Job Overview:

The Bank is seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator with knowledge of AWS Cloud technologies to join our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) group. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Oracle administration coupled with expertise in AWS services, particularly AWS RDS Oracle/Aurora and DMS. Individuals with proficiency in infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, scripting languages such as Python, Java script, Bash, PowerShell, and experience with serverless computing using AWS Lambda functions are preferred.

Responsibilities include:

Design and Implementation:

Design, deploy, and manage Oracle databases on premises and in AWS RDS, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and scalability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and implement hybrid cloud database solutions aligned with business requirements. Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Python, Bash, Ansible, PowerShell and Terraform to automate the provisioning and configuration of a hybrid cloud database environment. Migrate on premises databases to AWS using DMS, DMS CDC and development custom CDC scripts. Collaborate with data engineers, DevOps, and other stakeholders to define database requirements and solutions.

Maintenance and Optimization:

Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and security of a hybrid cloud database environment. Working experience with OEM, Splunk, Dynatrace and Cloud Watch. Support of Production environments with strong troubleshooting skills. Required to support off hour and weekend shifts. Implement cost optimization strategies and ensure efficient utilization of database resources. Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities with minimal downtime and risk. Implement and manage database backups, replication, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. Continuously improve database infrastructure and architecture to support evolving business needs and best practices and optimal flexibility.

Automation and Scripting:

Utilize Python, Bash, Ansible, PowerShell and Terraforms scripting to automate database administration tasks, streamline processes, and enhance operational efficiency. Automate the configure and manage database security policies, access controls, and encryption in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Utilize Terraforms for managing cloud resources and deployments, ensuring consistency and reliability in infrastructure management. Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines and automate release processes. Ensure all automation is robust, reusable, and adheres to industry standards.

Security and Compliance:

Implement and enforce security best practices for Data Platforms in a hybrid cloud environment. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies through proper configuration and auditing.

Documentation and Support:

Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices for knowledge sharing and team collaboration. Provide support and troubleshooting assistance to other team members and stakeholders to resolve database-related issues, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges in Hybrid cloud environments.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven working experience as a SQL Server/Oracle Database Administrator,
  • 4 to 7 years of hands-on experience with Oracle and Oracle RAC.
  • Candidates with knowledge or experience with AWS Cloud environments are preferred.
  • Solid understanding of Oracle performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with database security principles and best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience with agile methodologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of AWS services, particularly AWS RDS and related cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform for automating cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Knowledge of Python, Bash, Ansible and PowerShell scripting for automation, orchestration, and integration tasks.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database - Specialty are a plus.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience

The typical base pay range for this role is between $122k - $148k depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonuses and/or incentive compensation.
