Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across on-premises, Azure, and AWS cloud environments.

  • Design, implement, and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, and Log Shipping.

  • Perform database installations, configurations, patching, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management activities for production and non-production environments.

  • Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure platform stability.

  • Lead production incident response, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve operational reliability.

  • Partner with application development, infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams to support application deployments, database releases, and cloud modernization initiatives.

  • Manage and enhance backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies to meet enterprise resiliency requirements.

  • Drive automation, operational excellence, database governance, and security compliance while mentoring engineers and promoting database best practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • At least 5 years of experience within a total information technology (IT) environment

  • At least 10 years of experience with the design, development and support of technology infrastructure

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Strong hands-on expertise administering Microsoft SQL Server in large-scale, mission-critical enterprise environments.

  • Experience managing SQL Server deployments across on-premises, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) platforms.

  • Deep knowledge of SQL Server installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, and environment management.

  • Proven experience implementing and supporting Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping, Backup & Recovery, and DR solutions.

  • Advanced skills in database performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning.

  • Strong understanding of database security, encryption, access controls, vulnerability remediation, audit controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency with T-SQL, PowerShell, automation scripting, monitoring tools, and database administration utilities to improve operational efficiency.

  • Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and collaborate with developers on database design, data modeling, and application performance optimization.

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00
