Job description

Overview
  • Tier One Technologies is seeking a skilled Database Administrator with Oracle and DB2 experience to support our US Government client.
  • This contract-to-hire position can be located in Raleigh, NC or Eagan, MN.
  • Expected schedule: Thursday - Monday from 11:30 PM EST to 8:30 AM EST.
  • SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.
Responsibilities
  • Perform complex functional activities in support of Oracle RDBMS products and services, IBM DB2, Oracle eBusiness Suite, and Postgres that will include database patching, deployments and troubleshooting.
  • Oracle support:
    • Upgrade, install, patch, and remediate vulnerabilities in Oracle RDBMS products and services on Linux servers.
    • Manage and maintain a complex Oracle RDBMS production environment.
  • IBM DB2 Support:
    • Install, upgrade, patch, and remediate vulnerabilities in IBM DB2 databases on Mainframe systems, Linux and Windows servers.
    • Manage and maintain DB2 production environments including performance tuning and query optimization.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve DB2-related issues in high-availability environments
  • Oracle eBusiness Suite Support:
    • Upgrade, install, patch, and remediate vulnerabilities in Oracle eBusiness Suite applications on Linux servers.
    • Ensure the integration and performance of Oracle eBusiness Suite with other systems.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Oracle eBusiness Suite.
  • Work on high-visibility, or mission critical aspects of a given program, and performs all functional duties independently.
  • Oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
Qualifications
  • A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is required. If the degree is not in the applicable field, then 4 additional years of related experience is required.
  • 13+ years of experience in database administration, production support, and performance optimization.
  • 6+ years of hands-on Oracle production DBA experience, including Oracle RMAN, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), and Real Application Clusters (RAC).
  • 4+ years of IBM DB2 production DBA experience supporting enterprise database environments.
  • Proven expertise managing Oracle RDBMS, IBM DB2, Oracle E-Business Suite, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, design, performance tuning, query optimization, backup and recovery, and high availability.
  • Proficiency in administering databases across Linux, IBM Mainframe, and Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Extensive experience supporting and maintaining large-scale, multi-node Oracle RAC environments.
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, administering, and supporting PostgreSQL database environments.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work on-call, overnights and weekends as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent US Resident (Green Card Holder).
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Be able to pass a drug screening, criminal history, and credit checks.
  • Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
  • Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
