Job Overview:

Pay Range: $57hr - $62hr

Requirement/Must Have:

  • 2+ years of experience in database management including performance optimization and troubleshooting, and implementing, maintaining and controlling hierarchical or relational database management systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains database performance standards; monitors system usage; analyzes database performance and performs system optimization tasks to maintain data availability and ensure system responsiveness to user queries.
  • Devises and maintains data security and integrity standards; implements security access levels in accordance with management specifications.
  • Diagnoses and resolves database system performance problems.
  • Archives data; maintains archival and active records; performs data back-up and recovery.
  • Evaluates system and user needs and makes recommendations for increased system capacity.
  • Plans and implements database conversion projects and the migration and upgrade of databases to new versions and servers.
  • Monitors network traffic and communications usage patterns; configures or modifies network configuration to meet system demands and capacity planning needs.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of database development, management, warehousing and administration.
  • Knowledge of hierarchical and relational database management system software programming languages.
  • Knowledge of operating system software.
  • Knowledge of database security practices to monitor, control and evaluate user access, logons, permissions and related variables.
  • Knowledge of methods for ensuring, protecting and resolving problems involving the security of information systems.
  • Knowledge of archival, back-up and recovery methods.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with Azure SQL (Azure SQL Database or Managed Instance), including security administration, monitoring, and backup/recovery in Azure.
  • Familiarity with Azure data tools such as Azure Data Factory or Azure Database Migration Service for moving data from legacy systems into SQL Server.
  • Skill in developing database queries and generating reports.
  • Ability to interview users and extract pertinent information for development of database query system and report generation, database model design and upgrades.
  • Ability to implement, control and evaluate database management systems.
  • Ability to prepare user documentation and train users in database capabilities and procedures for accessing data.
  • Ability to analyze, apply logic and solve technology problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, management, technical co-workers and support specialists, and system users.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information systems, computer science or a related field.
