Job Title: DB2 LUW Database Administrator
Malvern, PA(Onsite) (Relocation allowed)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Db2 LUW Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our IBM Db2 databases across Linux, Unix, and Windows (LUW) platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring database integrity, high availability, and optimal performance while partnering with development and system administration teams to support business applications. Candidates with hands-on experience managing and migrating Db2 workloads in Amazon Web Services (AWS) will be given priority consideration.
Core Responsibilities
  • Database Management: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Db2 LUW software across development, testing, QA, and production environments.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor system health and optimize database configurations, buffer pools, and SQL queries to ensure maximum application efficiency.
  • High Availability & DR: Implement and maintain High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) and Q Replication solutions to meet strict uptime SLAs.
  • Backup & Recovery: Design, script, and execute robust backup, restore, and archiving strategies to ensure data durability and rapid point-in-time recovery.
  • Security & Compliance: Control user access, enforce data security policies, and manage database-level auditing in alignment with industry standards.
  • Capacity Planning: Analyze usage and data growth patterns to allocate storage effectively and forecast future infrastructure requirements.
  • Troubleshooting: Serve as the escalation point for complex database incidents, resolving deadlocks, connectivity issues, and performance bottlenecks.
Cloud & AWS Responsibilities (Bonus)
  • AWS Migration: Lead or assist in the discovery, planning, and migration of on-premises Db2 databases to AWS (deploying on Amazon EC2 or Amazon RDS for Db2).
  • Cloud Operations: Manage, monitor, and seamlessly scale Db2 compute and storage resources within the AWS ecosystem.
  • Service Integration: Leverage AWS-native tools for networking (VPC), storage (EBS/S3), security (IAM), and automated monitoring (CloudWatch).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to automate database provisioning and infrastructure deployments.
Required Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
  • Solid working knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems (e.g., RHEL, AIX).
  • Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl) to automate routine database tasks.
  • Familiarity with data movement utilities (LOAD, EXPORT, IMPORT).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant IBM Db2 certifications.
  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or AWS Certified Database).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and CI/CD pipelines.
