JOB SUMMARY:
The position requires the individual to apply their technical knowledge and experience for the successful database programming and custom graphics development and subsequent installation of this programming into the Building Management System for all assigned projects. Additionally, this role supports the startup, commissioning and troubleshooting of the assigned projects. The position requires a high level of experience in computer skills and the understanding of computer-operated systems, including network protocols. This role will also require responsibility for documenting all field as built conditions, as well as the commissioning process documents. Strong leadership skills are a necessity to lead large projects in the field with multiple team members. In addition, the technical nature of this position will also assume as necessary, Project Engineering tasks and responsibilities with respect to design engineering and field coordination. The position is required to closely interact with the Project Manager and any assigned Project Engineering staff to assist with the timely and successful completion of each project or pre-sales activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs as a lead Systems Software Engineer in the development of large and complex control systems databases & programs.
  • Fully responsible for the execution of the initial systems point-to-point commissioning activities
  • Schedules and conducts project turnover meetings with the Project Manager, to gather all information needed to perform design engineering and graphic solutions.
  • Assists Operations Manager, Project Managers and Field Supervisors with the allocation of engineering resources for scheduling and resource loading as needed for projects and cost control.
  • Supports the troubleshooting of local and wide area network issues as they arise.
  • Utilizes computer hardware and software to support and/or execute the pre-functional testing of the system software code in relationship to the design sequence of operations.
  • Participates and supports the final systems functional testing relative to standard, 3rd party, LEED and Title 24 testing as required.
  • Proactively evaluates potential problems on project designs and estimates and initiates actions plans with the associated Project Manager to limit negative outcomes and exposure.
  • Provides pre-sales technical project development support to the Project Managers in applications and cost estimating input as necessary.
  • Continuously pursues personal development in new technologies and solutions to enable the role to be the subject matter expert for the Sunbelt organization.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of all vendor software versions
  • Highly skilled to effectively work with and train others in 3rd party integrations of other vendor products, systems and protocols.
  • Maintains a lead role in the field coordination of installing subcontractors when a Project Engineer is not assigned to the project.
  • Responsible for attending required field project coordination meetings and commissioning meetings as required by the assigned projects.
  • Participates and leads all end user/customer system training requirements on assigned projects.
  • Develops, trains and coaches junior level Design Engineers and Systems Software Engineers on engineering concepts, applications, theories and standards.
  • Responsible for the systematic turnover of the project from the construction phase to the Service team on all assigned projects.
  • Assists Design Engineers with the validation of sequence of operations development against design build and/or contract requirements.
  • Coordinates with project staff to ensure accurate and timely recording of project costs including time sheets, daily reports, etc.
  • Manages field time and budgets relative to the field work of assigned projects.
  • Provides the necessary leadership role for the field team when executing mid-sized projects requiring multiple team members.
  • Communicates effectively with other team members regarding project issues, obstacles, and information needs.
  • Attends and successfully completes the OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 safety training classes.
  • Responsible for practicing safe work habits and participates in office safety program requirements and that of any specific safety requirements of all assigned projects.
  • Responsible for coaching, mentoring and development of junior level Systems Software Engineers.
  • Provides pre-sales support to the Project Management/Sales team as required.
  • Supports the Technical Services Manager in additional internal administrative activities as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager, Sales Management and/or the Executive team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associates degree in a technical field or 6-10 years of related work experience in building automation systems and/or industrial control systems programming.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, and File Structure.
  • Individual possesses a strong aptitude and experience with TCP/IP network structure and web navigation.
  • Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work in a high paced environment.
  • Has the ability to operate independently and autonomously and yet possesses the discretionary judgment to know when it is appropriate to consult with others in the organization and Project Manager.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license.
  • Ability to execute their work to ensure high customer satisfaction and the highest quality deliverable.
  • Demonstrates an ability to delegate basic and/or "stretch" tasks to less experienced staff and assign resource correctly to diagnose/address issues.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are a requirement of this position.

COMPETITIVE WAGES:
$88,000.00 to $111,000 Annual Salary. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others.
