About the Role
At our client, technology powers critical business operations that impact millions of users every day. We're looking for a Mainframe Developer who is passionate about building reliable, scalable, and high-performing enterprise solutions.
As a member of a collaborative engineering team, you'll work alongside architects, business analysts, QA engineers, product stakeholders, and operations teams to develop and support mission-critical mainframe applications. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges, modernize enterprise systems, and contribute to innovative solutions within a global technology environment.
What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Architects, Business Analysts, and development teams to build scalable and reliable software solutions.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and recommend enhancements that improve application performance and stability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across applications, databases, batch processes, and testing environments.
  • Support and monitor Control-M batch scheduling and workflow execution to ensure operational excellence.
  • Manage application deployments, environment refreshes, configuration updates, and post-deployment validations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Collaborate with QA, Release Management, Infrastructure, and offshore teams to ensure successful implementations.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for supported applications and provide guidance during audits, releases, and enhancement projects.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior team members through technical coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide on-call production support for mission-critical applications when required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise mainframe applications.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with:

COBOL
JCL
CICS
DB2
VSAM
  • Experience supporting batch processing, production support, troubleshooting, and application maintenance.
  • Experience with source control and deployment tools such as Endeavor.
  • Experience with Control-M scheduling, batch workflow management, and job monitoring.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Easytrieve (EZtrieve) and other enterprise mainframe utilities.
  • Experience using mainframe debugging, performance tuning, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Previous experience mentoring developers and supporting large-scale enterprise systems
