Database Specialist / Database Architect Location: Santa Ana, CA Duration: 12+ Months Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Database Specialist / Database Architect to design, implement, administer, and optimize enterprise database solutions that support critical business applications and operational systems. This role is responsible for database architecture, performance optimization, high availability, data governance, security, backup and recovery, and integration across complex enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have experience designing scalable, highly available database platforms that support real-time applications, analytics, and enterprise data management initiatives. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain enterprise database architectures supporting business-critical applications and operational platforms. Experince in airport / airlines Develop logical and physical data models to ensure scalability, performance, and data integrity. Install, configure, administer, and maintain relational and NoSQL database environments. Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize availability, reliability, and scalability. Design and manage High Availability (HA), clustering, replication, failover, and disaster recovery solutions. Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and business continuity strategies to ensure data protection and system resilience. Implement database security, encryption, auditing, role-based access controls, and compliance with organizational security policies. Support data integration initiatives using ETL processes, APIs, middleware, and enterprise integration platforms. Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, cloud architects, and business stakeholders to optimize database solutions. Support enterprise reporting, business intelligence, analytics, and data warehouse initiatives. Develop database standards, documentation, operational procedures, and governance frameworks. Perform capacity planning, storage management, lifecycle management, and database health assessments. Troubleshoot database performance issues and provide root cause analysis and resolution for production environments. Evaluate emerging database technologies and recommend improvements aligned with business and technical objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum 5+ years of experience in database administration, database architecture, or enterprise data management. Strong expertise with relational database platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL. Experience with database design, normalization, data modeling, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning. Experience implementing backup and recovery, replication, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions. Strong knowledge of SQL programming, stored procedures, triggers, query optimization, and database performance monitoring. Experience supporting enterprise data integration using ETL tools, APIs, and middleware technologies. Familiarity with cloud database services in Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud. Knowledge of database security, encryption, auditing, access controls, and regulatory compliance. Experience supporting high-volume transaction processing, real-time applications, and highly available enterprise environments. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud-native database platforms and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) solutions. Experience with data warehousing, business intelligence, analytics platforms, and data governance initiatives. Familiarity with containerized database deployments, automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps practices. Experience supporting mission-critical environments with stringent availability, performance, and recovery objectives. Knowledge of enterprise asset management, operational systems, GIS, IoT, or other integrated enterprise platforms.
