Job Summary:
Bucks County Community College is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join their IT team. The role involves managing and maintaining database systems to ensure their integrity, availability, and performance, while also overseeing security measures and database documentation.
Responsibilities:
• Storing, extracting, loading, authenticating, and managing data.
• Setting up cybersecurity measures.
• Ensuring all hardware and software are updated and monitoring the performance on servers.
• Configuring databases and preserving data integrity.
• Identify and resolve database performance issues, such as slow queries, inefficient indexing, or resource contention.
• Conduct database capacity planning to anticipate future storage and performance needs.
• Implement and maintain database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems, including schema, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree, or associate’s degree with relevant experience
• 5 years of experience supporting databases in a Microsoft Windows environment
• Student Information System (SIS) experience required
• Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, ETL, and MySQL
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance
• Advanced understanding of how enterprise applications operate in Microsoft environments, including infrastructure dependencies, access controls, and upgrade/patching processes
• Excellent documentation habits, attention to detail and time management skills
• Ability to work with reporting groups across campus to optimize reports
