Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an IS&T Database Administrator (DBA), supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base in Arnold, TN. The IS&T Database Administrator (DBA) will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition may be required to occasionally (e.g., application upgrades) work outside normal business hours.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a significant number of Oracle databases and Microsoft SQL databases that include, but not limited to, implementation of backup/recovery strategy, quarterly patching, hardware/software upgrades, performance tuning, maintenance, and support.

Job Duties:

  • Provide support in an environment requiring highly available systems and capable of performing multiple tasks to resolve critical production issues.
  • Support for MS SQL Server databases that include, but not limited to, implementation of backup/recovery strategy, quarterly patching, hardware/software upgrades, performance tuning, maintenance, and support.
  • Migration of Oracle and MS SQL database versions to the most current versions.
  • Recognize, assess, and implement opportunities for improvement related to database administration such as automating routine database tasks, incorporating new tools, features, and functionality.
  • Documenting database configuration for each of the systems and implement standards to maintain compliance/maintainability.
  • Provide and maintain documentation related to database policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Provide support for Oracle on Windows and Linux server environment.
  • Provide support for MS SQL on Windows environment.
  • Upgrade planning and coordination.
  • Work with team to support Business Systems utilizing Oracle and/or MS SQL Server databases.
  • Apply appropriate DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)'s as applicable to sustain compliance with Information Assurance requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues such as database integrity, performance, blocking and deadlocking, replication, connectivity, log shipping, security, etc.
  • Design, development, sustainment, and deployment of database systems.
  • Support and remediate any issues with Business Systems outside of normal assigned shift.
  • Provide Tier 2 end user troubleshooting support for Business Systems through the ticket support system.
  • Support the use of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS II contract.
  • Provide support to AEDC Customer and other contractors.
  • Ensure Cybersecurity requirements are consistently documented, maintained, evaluated and compliant for Government IT system networks including components of systems.
  • Periodically evaluates process and program effectiveness and takes action to maintain continuous improvement.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Engineering, Science, or Information Systems and 3 years of progressive and relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and progressive and relevant experience.
  • 3 plus years of database administrator experience with Oracle Databases and/or Microsoft SQL databases.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of a secret security clearance and the AEDC local area network.
  • Obtain and maintain Security+ certification
  • Current US Citizenship required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL, MS SQL, triggers, indexing, procedures, replication, views, etc.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Oracle: RMAN, Toad for Oracle, Oracle OEM, Oracle 19, ODBC's
    • Microsoft: MS SQL Server 2019 or higher, SQL Server Management Studio
    • Operating Systems: Windows 10/11, Windows 2019 Server OS or higher, RHEL 8 OS or higher
    • Office products: Visio, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in IT department practices and procedures
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Skilled at building and maintaining personnel and customer relationships.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Active DoD secret security clearance or able to obtain an Active DoD secret security clearance.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location.
