Job description

General Purpose

Provide leadership to warehouse/distribution supervisors and employees. Manage all daily operational activities to maximize productivity and efficiency. Oversee the activities related to materials movement or handling, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling, shipping, and maintaining stock in a warehouse or similar environment. Function as the primary liaison between plant management and other departments including sales, distribution, and customer service to ensure appropriate inventory/product levels are available and delivered accurately and on time. Maintain a firm handle on all aspects of warehouse/distribution operations, inclusive of effective interdepartmental communication between management and warehouse personnel.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee all warehouse and distribution activities including receiving, put away, picking, packing, shipping, and route loading to meet customer and production requirements.
  • Manage inventory accuracy through SAP WM/EWM systems, including cycle counts, reconciliation of discrepancies, and real-time tracking of stock movement and storage locations.
  • Maintain proper controls and policies around inventory, assets, and pricing management, ensuring all documentation is accurate, completed, and submitted on schedule.
  • Coordinate all route truck preventive maintenance (PM), repair schedules, and fleet safety procedures to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate truck breakdowns, replacement units, and lease equipment to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Oversee truck, warehouse, and facility maintenance programs, including temperature control systems critical to product quality and compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure all fleet and warehouse equipment maintenance remains current to prevent failures and production interruptions.
  • Supervise warehouse personnel including scheduling, training, performance management, and enforcement of operational and safety standards.
  • Establish, communicate, and enforce policies and procedures that ensure safe, efficient operations; actively lead and participate in company safety programs and OSHA compliance.
  • Utilize SAP systems and RF/barcode technology to ensure accurate data capture for all warehouse transactions and inventory movements.
  • Integrate warehouse operations with SAP modules (MM, SD) to ensure alignment with procurement, sales, and broader supply chain functions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs to improve operational efficiency, reduce errors, and support standardized processes across warehouse activities.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, inventory accuracy, pick rates, and dock-to-stock cycle time to identify and drive improvements.
  • Audit policies and procedures in the warehouse and route operations to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and audit readiness.
  • Collaborate with IT and supply chain teams to troubleshoot SAP system issues, support system enhancements, and implement process improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation opportunities and system enhancements within SAP to optimize warehouse performance.
  • Lead change management efforts related to warehouse operations, including SAP upgrades, process changes, and new system implementations.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, supply chain and logistics, or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in a warehouse, cooler, distribution, production, logistics, or related environment coupled with supervisory experience
  • Management experience preferred
  • Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment
