Job description

JOB TITLE: Senior Financial Business Analyst – Analytics & Data Visualization

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

We’re looking for a Financial Business Analyst to join the Finance organization, focused on data visualization, dashboard design, and business-facing analytics. This role is responsible for transforming complex financial and operational data into clear, trusted dashboards that directly inform business strategy and decision-making across the company.

This role is part of the Finance organization and reports to Finance leadership, with accountability for analytical outputs, metric definitions, and insights residing within Finance.

You will work closely with Finance leadership and partner with Revenue and Operations to shape KPIs, reporting standards, and analytical approaches. Your work will regularly inform senior stakeholders by providing clear, analytically grounded perspectives on performance, trends, risks, and tradeoffs.

This role blends hands-on analytics execution with strategic thinking: designing metrics, building scalable dashboards, and applying analytical judgment to help the business understand not just what happened, but why and what it implies for future decisions.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being the bridge between data and business strategy, values clarity over complexity, and is intellectually curious enough to independently explore, troubleshoot, and continuously improve analytical solutions (including effective use of generative AI tools).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build, and maintain high-impact dashboards that clearly communicate financial and operational performance
  • Own the end-to-end analytics workflow within Finance: business questions → metrics → visualizations → insights
  • Partner with Finance, Revenue, Operations, and senior stakeholders to define KPIs, reporting standards, and analytical conventions
  • Use SQL to connect visualization tools directly to data sources and shape datasets for reporting and visualization
  • Automate recurring dashboards and reports to reduce manual effort and improve consistency
  • Ensure data accuracy, metric consistency, and analytical rigor across Finance-owned reporting
  • Apply statistical and probabilistic reasoning—such as trend analysis, variability, confidence intervals, and regression models—to support interpretation and decision-making
  • Proactively identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities within financial and operational data
  • Clearly communicate insights, assumptions, and limitations to both technical and non-technical audiences

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Solid SQL skills for querying and shaping data for reporting and visualization
  • Advanced Excel proficiency
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts (revenue, margin, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, KPIs)
  • Working familiarity with applied probability and statistics, including confidence intervals, trend analysis, and regression models
  • Demonstrated ability to independently research problems, validate assumptions, and design fit-for-purpose analytical solutions
  • Comfort using generative AI tools to accelerate analysis, troubleshooting, and solution design

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7 years of experience in Business Analytics, BI, Finance Analytics, or a similar role
  • Strong expertise in data visualization and dashboarding tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar)
  • Finance background or formal education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Experience building self-service dashboards for Finance and business users
  • Experience in SaaS, revenue analytics, FP&A, or pricing
  • Familiarity with basic data modeling concepts (facts, dimensions, metric definitions)
  • Light experience with Python or R for analysis or automation (not required)
  • Graduate-level coursework or research exposure to applied statistics or quantitative methods
