Job description

High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Data Processing and Quality Analyst with in the Workman School of Dental Medicine.This role is responsible for supporting the integrity, consistency, and operational reliability of data used across institutional analytics systems. The position focuses on executing data validation processes, maintaining data workflows, and ensuring accurate reporting across platforms such as Excel and Power BI.
This position is well-suited for an early-career professional interested in developing skills in educational data operations, reporting systems, and learning analytics within a collaborative higher education environment.
Working under the direction of the Director of Design and Process Enhancement, this role applies established data standards, supports survey deployment and evaluation systems implementation, and contributes to ongoing improvements in data quality and reporting processes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-3 years of experience in data cleaning, data validation, data operations, or database management (internships or relevant project work considered).

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., data cleaning, formulas, pivot tables, data organization).

  • Exposure to or interest in learning data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify data inconsistencies, troubleshoot errors, and ensure data accuracy across systems.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to document processes and maintain clear records.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow established data workflows and standards with a high level of attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, statistics, or a related field.

  • Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) or willingness to learn.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Data Quality & Validation:
  • Operate and maintain assessment platforms (e.g., PowerBI, Dashboards, ExamSoft, Excel, LMS data, survey tools, EPIC) for longitudinal tracking of student performance and curricular effectiveness.

  • Execute routine data validation, cleaning, and quality assurance processes across multiple data sources (e.g., Qualtrics, ExamSoft, LMS, Excel).

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data inconsistencies, missing data, and structural issues.

  • Apply established data standards, naming conventions, and formatting rules to ensure consistency across systems.

  • Support recurring data workflows and reporting processes.

Data Management & Systems Support:
  • Support the maintenance of dashboards and reporting systems (e.g., Power BI, Excel-based reports) used for academic and operational decision-making.

  • Prepare, organize, and transform datasets for reporting and analysis.

  • Assist in maintaining data structures that support longitudinal tracking of learner performance.

  • Document data processes, workflows, and system updates to ensure continuity and transparency.

Reporting & Analytics Support:
  • Generate routine and ad hoc reports to support faculty, committees, and leadership.

  • Assist in identifying trends, patterns, and data gaps to support decision-making.

  • Support the preparation of recurring reports (e.g., course/module performance, EPA evaluations, attendance tracking).

Survey & Evaluation Support:
  • Build and maintain surveys and evaluation tools using platforms such as Qualtrics or similar systems.

  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in data collection instruments across reporting cycles.

  • Support the implementation and tracking of feedback and evaluation processes.

  • Handle data edits and user requests for changes (edits/removal) of data.

  • Work with users about data changes and updates.

Accreditation & Continuous Quality Improvement Support:
  • Support data preparation and documentation for accreditation and reporting requirements.

  • Maintain organized data repositories and reporting outputs used for compliance and review processes.

  • Assist in continuous quality improvement efforts by ensuring reliable data is available for evaluation and decision-making.

Collaboration & Communication:
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data needs are met and reporting outputs are usable and clear.

  • Provide basic guidance to faculty and staff on accessing and interpreting standard reports and dashboards.

  • Communicate data issues or inconsistencies clearly and in a timely manner.

  • This role will also perform other duties as assigned by the Director.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
  • Works under the supervision of the Director of Design and Process Enhancement, with regular performance reviews incorporating feedback from faculty, staff, and learners.

  • Contributes to departmental goals around curriculum innovation, student success, and accreditation readiness.
