We are headquartered in Chesapeake, VA with employees located near each of the Navy Fleet Centers within the continental United States (San Diego, Jacksonville, Seattle, New England, Norfolk) as well as Hawaii and Japan.

Position Description:

MI Technical Solutions is seeking a Data Scientist to join its team. In this role, the Data Scientist is responsible for gathering and analyzing data, organizing, and documenting findings of

studies, and preparing recommendations for implementing new systems, procedures, or organizational changes.


Responsibilities:

• Provide senior level oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with higher command levels (GS-15, O-6 level) orally and in writing.

• Provide support using Naval data sources and repositories, Ship Maintenance databases, Shipyard databases, and Ship Supply databases.

• Provide advanced experience related to importing daily/weekly/monthly data sources, running pre-programmed macros, and relaying issues experienced to the development team.

• Provide advanced experience working with data visualization tools.

• Validate outputs from Data Visualization tools (such as Tableau and Advana Databricks) with the raw data source.

• Gather and analyze data, organize, and document findings of studies, and prepare recommendations for implementing new systems, procedures, or organizational changes.

• Collate information into meaningful reports and presentation material.

• Metamorphose raw data into viable and readable formats for display, and decision utilization by leadership.

• Design, build, test, blend, manage, and optimize all types of relevant data utilizing numerous sources, some described above.

• Use statistical analysis and other data science methodologies to identify patterns, trends, and insights within data sets.

Proficiency in coding languages is essential to this role utilizing common programming languages including, but not limited to, Python and R.


Requirements:

• DoD Secret Clearance

• Bachelor's degree in Computer or Data Science

• Minimum of 5 or more years’ experience in the use of data visualization software and advanced ability in utilizing common programming languages to include Python and R

• Minimum of 5 or more years’ experience handling project planning and scheduling data such as with Microsoft Project or other schedule management tools

• Minimum of 5 or more years’ experience with Microsoft Products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience monitoring the operation of assigned programs, collected data, and responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in providing a full range of data science methodologies to produce meaning insight from numerous and diverse data sources

• Effective writing, speaking, and analytical skills
