You will be employed by our Managed Service Provider, Magnit Global, which oversees the majority of our temporary contract recruitment. Location: Basking Ridge, NJ (Hybrid – 3 days onsite) - local candidates only Tableau Developer (Data Visualization & Analytics) Team: Center for Metrics, Analytics, Reporting & Solutions (cMARS) Role Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on Tableau Developer to join the cMARS team and play a key role in advancing a data-driven culture across R&D. In this role, you will design and build intuitive, high-impact dashboards that transform complex data into meaningful insights for business stakeholders. You will work with data from enterprise R&D data platforms to deliver scalable, performant, and analytically robust visualizations. This is not a reporting role — it is a technical, problem-solving role requiring strong analytical thinking, deep Tableau expertise, and the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into effective data solutions. What You’ll Do: • Design and develop interactive, user-centric dashboards and reports using Tableau • Translate business requirements into clear, insightful visualizations and data stories • Build advanced visual components including: o drill-downs and hierarchical navigation o heat maps, box plots, trend analysis, and statistical charts o dynamic dashboards with parameters and actions • Develop and optimize complex calculations, including: o Level of Detail (LOD) expressions o table calculations o conditional logic and dynamic formatting • Ensure dashboards are accurate, performant, and scalable • Maintain dashboard documentation, including mapping specifications, test dashboards, and develop testing scripts. • Collaborate closely with data engineers to: o define and refine data tables for dashboard consumption o ensure data quality and usability for analytics • Collaborate closely with business analysts to: o refine wireframes, metrics, and functional requirements • Apply best practices in data visualization design (clarity, usability, performance) • Troubleshoot data and visualization issues, identifying root causes and solutions Role Expectations (Important): • This is a purely hands-on development role — not a reporting, coordination, or oversight role • You will be expected to work directly in Tableau and SQL on a daily basis • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to: o build dashboards independently o solve complex data and visualization problems o deliver high-quality work under evolving requirements Required Qualifications • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Tableau (dashboard development, not just usage) • Strong experience building interactive dashboards and complex visualizations • 3+ years of SQL experience, including: o joins, aggregations, subqueries o ability to explore and validate datasets • Solid understanding of data modeling and relational databases (e.g., Redshift, Oracle, Snowflake) • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail • Experience working with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Excel • Excellent communication skills What Makes You Successful: • You think beyond charts — you design insightful user experiences • You question data and validate results, not just visualize them • You are comfortable working with ambiguous requirements and shaping solutions • You care about both technical quality and business impact Preferred Qualifications: •Tableau Certification (e.g., Tableau Certified Data Analyst) • Experience working with R&D or clinical trials data in pharma/life sciences • Experience designing dashboards for large-scale or enterprise data environments • Familiarity with performance optimization techniques in Tab Tableau Certification (e.g., Tableau Certified Data Analyst) Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation) The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $ 60-72/hr Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K (provided minimum eligibility hours are met) All qualified applicants will not be discriminated against and will receive consideration for employment without regard to protected veteran status, disability, race, color, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or national origin.
