Job description

This role is responsible for the sustained operation and maintenance of a newly deployed naval enterprise transport network, ensuring its 24/7/365 availability and reliability. As a Systems Engineer III, you will resolve complex Tier 3 issues, monitor and optimize the performance of managed services and systems - including Linux servers, Windows servers, vSphere, and other virtualized platforms - while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with SMEs, design teams, and vendors. This position requires advanced technical expertise, strong leadership, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of a mission-critical network. Roles and Responsibilities: Incident Response: Quickly identify, triage, and address outages, analyzing symptoms and potential root causes to implement effective resolutions or escalate to design team or vendor support when necessary. Performance Monitoring: Utilize advanced monitoring tools to oversee virtual infrastructure and ensure optimal performance. Communication & Collaboration: Provide clear, professional written advisories to customers and operations staff, translating technical information into actionable insights.
Device maintenance: Ensure Applications are running and up to date, deploy patches and software updates as needed, maintain system configuration and documentation. 5+ years relevant experience in supporting a large network infrastructure. Experience administering Linux and/or Windows Servers in an enterprise environment Secret clearance or higher preferred
8140 compliance (Active Security and OS certifications)
Experience deploying Active Directory and Group Policy Understanding of advanced DNS topics
Strong knowledge of IPAM solutions and capabilities Python, BASH, Powershell, or similar Experience using Ansible (Tower), Puppet, Chef, Terraform, Containerization, Jenkins, or similar principles
