Job description

Henry Ford Health Cancer Registry Data and Quality team is looking for a detail-orientated Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) responsible for abstracting, casefinding and reporting data accurately in compliance with the national cancer data and accreditation standards.   The Ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of oncology coding, staging, reporting standards and regulatory requirements and proficiency in data analysis tools and software.  To qualify, applicants need to be ODS certified or be ODS exam eligible. This is a full time remote position.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Supervisor-Cancer Registry Data and Quality, the Oncology Data Specialist-Certified (ODS-C) is responsible for:

       Managing and analyzing clinical cancer information,

       Abstracting, and reporting Data Accurately,

       Compliance with national cancer data and accreditation standards,

       Contributing to the overall improvement of cancer care quality and outcomes.

The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of:

  •  Oncology coding,

  • Staging,

  • Reporting standards

  • Regulatory requirements,

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software,

  • A strong attention to detail.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Associate's degree required, preferably in Cancer Registry Management, health/technology, or related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum three (3) years ODS/cancer registry experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding and proficiency in using electronic health records and cancer registry software (i.e., CRStar).

  • Prior experience with cancer accreditation (i.e., CoC, NAPBC) preferred.

  • Able to thrive in a remote work environment.

  • Self-motivated with critical attention to details and deadlines.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Oncology Data Specialist certification or certification eligible per National Cancer Registrar Association requirements.

  • Certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
