We have an exciting opportunity for a Non-Certified or Certified Orthotic Fitter in Farmington Hills, MI to provide support for appropriate devices by measuring and fitting orthoses. 

Required training and certification assistance provided for the right candidate. Medical Assistants, Athletic Trainers, PT Assistants with an interest in orthotics are encouraged to apply.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with orthotic practitioners in the evaluation & analysis of patient needs for orthotic services.
  • Perform fitting of orthotic devices and/or soft goods related to a patient's needs, as indicated by an orthotic practitioner or physician; execute minor modifications as necessary. 
  • Evaluate orthotic device on patient, adjust to assure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work once trained.
  • Instruct patient in use of the device and reconcile issues to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Perform outcomes measures, medical history documentation, and clinical notes annotation support for clinical staff. 
  • Collaborate with Verification, Authorization and Billing teams to secure insurance authorizations for patient cases, financial responsibility and medical documentation requirements. 
  • Perform patient care at various location types including Ottobock Patient Care Centers, Hospitals, Inpatient & Outpatient Clinics, Skilled Nursing Facilities and Patient Residences using a personal vehicle and maintaining a valid Driver's License and Insurance. 
  • Participate in required continuing education opportunities deemed necessary.
  • Comply with Corporate Compliance and HIPAA responsibilities.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
  • Ability to assess patient conditions and recommend treatment options.
  • Aptitude in casting and model modification techniques preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and participate with a team approach. 
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Exhibit strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and use of good judgment in resolving issues.
  • Demonstrated organizational and management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to completion.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office and databases.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Background in medical assisting, athletic training, or physical therapy helpful.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology preferred
  • Certified by ABC or BOC in Orthotic Fitting preferred. (Commit to completing certification requirements if non-certified)
  • One year of experience in Orthotics and Prosthetics preferred.
  • Note: Required to complete certification training to become a CPed
