Job description

Job Title: Donor Services Assistant (Temporary, Variable Hours)
Reports To: Donor Services Manager
Direct Reports: None
Department: Development Team
Status: Temporary; Hours will fluctuate between 25 to 30 hours per week. Schedule is provided at least two weeks in advance.


Position Purpose

To serve as a member of the Development Team by supporting daily financial processing and providing excellent support to donors all while representing our Mission, Vision, and Values and continuing to grow as a follower of Jesus Christ and a spiritual leader.


Position Profile

The Donor Services Assistant is a temporary role in the Donor Services team. This position requires flexibility, with weekly hours fluctuating between 25 and 40 depending on business needs. A schedule will be provided at least two weeks in advance.

The focus of the role will be supporting the financial donation processing. The day will typically begin by picking up mail from the post office, sorting donations, scanning checks into the processing software, and reviewing the batch before deposit. The Donor Services Assistant will be trained in all required software and internal processes to ensure accuracy and consistency in donation handling.


Essential Functions

Leadership Essentials

  • Act as a contributing member of the Development Team.

  • Represent SDRM with professionalism and warmth in all interactions.

Financial Donation Processing

  • Pick up incoming mail daily from the local post office.
  • Process donations via check, credit card, and online platforms.
  • Ensure data accuracy and confidentiality in all financial entries.
  • Pull third-party donation reports to ensure accurate crediting.
  • Run assigned imports and assist with database maintenance.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to calls and emails within one business day.
  • Update donor information in the database.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of acknowledgment letters and donor receipts as needed.
  • Learn and apply all necessary software tools and internal procedures related to donation processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
